About this mod Machine translation

This mod adds a horse riding perk tree to the campfire skill system. The tree has a main branch of horseback riding, and then two specialties: Cavalry Tactics - One on One and Horse Archery - Ranged. Earn money can be earned by riding horses, killing at local stables, and training with local horses. Horse attributes are dynamically affected while riding.

Update 1.1 - Fixed bug where magic effects would not persist across cells. If no magical effect occurs, applying the cloak to the player reapplies the spell, and reapplying triggers the active effect.

This mod is fully compatible with all other mods. It will be detected every time you ride a horse and will do nothing if it was the last horse you rode. If you install a new horse, the necessary scripts will be applied to it and you will be notified that it has been discovered, along with its default speed, health regeneration, and stamina regeneration statistics.

There are currently two versions of this mod, as trample cannot be disabled by setting a global variable, even in combat situations. Therefore, I added a Requiem-dependent version for Requiem users. Currently, "Immersive Horse Trampling" will be set to "Off" if detected.

Every time: Make sure you have turned off all rumor effects from other modules

Horse riding - default version:

Requires Bonfire and Frostfall. If you don't have frost and turn off dynamic weather updates in MCM, you should be fine. Note that weather updates will not work until Frostfall is running. If you do use Frostfall, the horse's stamina regeneration never drops too low (which is fun to have to deal with), so I recommend adding it, but setting the exposure to as low a value as you want. (Exposure does not affect this mod's interaction with Frostfall)

Horseback Riding - Hardcover Edition:

Same as above, except that if the associated Requiem global NoTrample variable is set to 1, it adjusts the Requiem Trample effect to be completely off (done automatically when this mod is loaded). Unfortunately, it doesn't stop Mass Effect systems from working. So right now, the Stampede mechanic looks like a trigger for just about everything to try, regardless of your perks.

Perks can be increased by passively riding a horse, killing a horse on horseback, or training at a local horse training facility. Once an experienced rider has received his allowance, it will no longer be possible to train in the stables. Additionally, if you ask for a training session and are asked how much you are willing to pay, but can only say "Nevermind", it means you have no more gold than Riding_TrainingCost (adjustable in MCM). This module mainly edits the ImmersiveHorses script to implement its changes.

You can adjust the speed at which you gain experience while riding, killing on mount, or training through the MCM.

A quick look at the main takeaways:

The horse's attributes for speed, stamina regeneration, and health regeneration start at 1.0 (converting this to a speed multiplier of 100 or equal to "normal speed"), .65, and .045 respectively. Horse Frost has a speed multiplier of 1.1. They are dynamically affected based on:

Stamina Percent - When tired, your horse will move more slowly and health regeneration will be slower.

Health Percent - When injured, your horse will move more slowly and its endurance recovery will be slower.

Carrying Weight - Your stock weight, your horse's stock weight and the carrying weight will together determine the amount of damping properties.

Weather Update - Using Frostfall's features, cold and harsh weather can have a significant impact on your horse's regeneration and speed. This effect will be lessened if you are close to a fire source.

Horse Perks - The last three knight perks will increase and decrease the effects of other effects on horse speed and stamina regeneration. The Cavalry Tactics perk increases and decreases the impact of other effects on horse health regeneration.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
