About this mod Machine translation

This mod adds monthly modifiers to Frostfall's base area temperature to allow temperatures to vary throughout the year. It also includes an MCM so that you can set the base temperature for each zone and the type of modifiers for each month.

Recently, weather mods finally gained the ability to change weather patterns based on the month, allowing for seasonal changes. But there's a problem: popular frosts don't change the value used as temperature in each zone. Therefore, the forest around Riften always has a base temperature value of "12", whether it is summer or winter. While Frostfall temporarily changes the current maximum temperature to "-5" when it's snowing, and to "-10" when it's snowing heavily, as soon as the snow ends it jumps back to 12 (approximately adding random variation, even (if it's sunny) in the Autumn Forest area of Riften Hold - or 20 if in the Pine Forest area where Falkreath Hold is most common. So I decided to make a mod to change that.

While I've set some values as defaults, you can change the base temperature for any zone to any default you want and do the same thing for each type of month. For the monthly variations, I use a simple system where each month falls into a specific month type: "Hot", "Warm", "Good", "Average", "Cool", "Cold" or "Cold", where the hottest and coldest months each affect one month, then the two hottest sides are "warm", the coldest sides are "cold", and so on until you reach the two months closest to the equinox, which is "average". The default array for temperature modification is (+12, +8, +4, +0, -4, -8, -12).

Note that the value called "temperature" used by Frostfall may not be the actual temperature. When examining real-world locations to determine the type of values to use for regional baselines and monthly changes, I found that I had to multiply the frost temperature values by 1.5 to 2.0 to get values (both positive and negative) that were close to real-world Celsius temperatures. burden). Even in some areas, summer or winter are often short. In the end, I gave up on using real zones and just settled for a method where the monthly variation was three-quarters of the maximum range of Frostfall's 10-tier cold system (from +18 to -14 or 32), or I set the zones to default to the same value, or I chose a default that made the region's August base temperature close to Frostfall's base value.

Frostfall works by identifying the area, then finding the base temperature for that area, then applying a weather modifier, and then applying a night modifier to the temperature if necessary. It then determines the minimum and maximum allowed temperatures for the situation and, if necessary, changes the current temperature to these values. This prevents Frostfall from seeing a temperature of 20 if it's currently snowing in Pine Forest, for example due to a mod changing the area weather.

All I did was modify Frostfall's climate script to add GameMonth as a global variable that it looks for, and then add other global variables for each region and month type. I then changed the if statement to use region[month] instead of setting the value for each region, and elsewhere I created a function that uses a global value to set each region's base temperature for each month. I also modified Frostfall's Compatibility script so that instead of returning the area's base temperature value for certain areas in the DLC (and several New Land mods), it returns area numbers that Frostfall already uses elsewhere, which are then used in the Climate script. The same way as the Skyrim area.

Also, I made a little addition, so instead of thermostating at -5pm (turning on/off exactly at 7am/7pm), there is a transition period: during twilight the penalty is -2. Unfortunately, I can't find a way to find the start/end times for sunrise and sunset times, so I can enter the hours manually. The default values are close to the original game values, but they are not exactly the same because otherwise "da …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
