About this mod Machine translation

A new set of script functions for other mod authors to use: manipulate actor detection, unit lighting, and more!

CobbAPI is a collection of DLL and script files that provide mod authors with new scripting capabilities. Of note, this includes most of the techniques I reverse-engineered and implemented to power mods like Cobb Positioner and ESO Death and Resurrection. The DLL is loaded by SKSE.

A demo is provided in the download section. This download contains an MCM that can be used to trigger most of the module's features. You can also download the complete documentation archive.

If you are the author of a mod and wish to use the scripting functionality provided by this resource, you must instruct users to download and install this mod. Do not package CobbAPI's DLL or script files with your mod. (If there are multiple mods that bundle CobbAPI and I update them, those mods will become incompatible and run the risk of older versions overwriting new mods.) If you want to use CobbAPI to add optional features or enhancements to your mod, you can check the capabilities of the DLL by calling SKSE.GetPluginVersion("CobbAPI") and checking if the return value is greater than -1.

Function

Manipulate Actor Detection: Mask any actor, or prevent any actor from being noticed.

Check if the actor was decapitated or decapitated by a troll?

Modify interior unit lighting, fog, acoustics and image space.

Move or generate references in bulk!

Access various properties on the reference: enabled state parent, saved data, loaded 3D, loading gate teleport flag, etc.

Convenience functions are available to simplify array operations.

Searches a cell (or loaded range) for references that match various criteria.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
