About this mod Machine translation

Modders resources, climbable ladders. No animation.

By downloading this file you can use/apply/modify/copy the resource according to your needs and preferences. No requests for changes etc. This is a very simple template/tutorial and you should be able to make changes yourself. There are many other ways and variations to achieve this effect, this is just a very basic example.

how

Create a new activator with the following properties: Name: Ladder (or other object), Activate text overlay: Climb, Model: Dungeons\Riften\TGRoom\RiftenRWTGRoomRoundLadder01.nif (or preferred) and click OK.

Return to the activator and attach the _PF_climbladder script (or your own version). Do not fill in tag attributes here. If using raw script, use (any) > Player to fill in the player properties.

Go to your cell, click and drag the Activator from the Object Window to the Viewer Window and drop it into place, resizing/reorienting as needed.

Once everything is aligned, go to the objects window and find the xmarker under World Objects > Static. Place one X mark at the top of the ladder and another at the bottom.

Click on your activator in the viewer window and go to the Scripts tab. Go to properties and fill in the two tag properties with the corresponding x tags.

How to make NPCs use ladders (optional - see notes)

For active fans:

Create a new activator to use as a trigger, no model required. Create it and click OK.

Turn your trigger back on. Attach the _PF_LadderTrig script (or your own).

With the viewer window open in a cell, select your ladder diagram and click on the box with a T inside in the toolbar at the top of the main window to create a trigger box. Select the trigger you just created from the menu that opens.

Resize the trigger box so that NPCs near the top or bottom of the ladder activate it.

Click Trigger Box > Script > Fill Properties, just like you did for the ladder diagram.

For Sandbox NPCs (Shouldn't be necessary!):

Go to the "Furniture" section of the object window. Duplicate or create a new record of invisible chair markers (or if other furniture is preferred, marking them as markers will prevent them from being visible).

Attached _PF_ClimbLadder script

Place one at the top of the ladder and one at the bottom, filling in the script properties for each.

All done! Try it out in game and make any changes if necessary.

Important note

  • No animation. It will fade out (if used by the player).
  • Since there is no animation, NPC cannot activate on its own. However, using the "I need you to do something for me" dialogue will allow them to "crawl".
  • Should be obvious, but make sure that when activated, the player cannot get any closer to the wrong marker. It's not something to worry about in almost all cases, but it's worth noting.
  • You don't have to use an X marker, you just need something to move the player around and reference the position. Make sure your object/marker is where you want the player to stand.
  • There are some other activator properties that can be changed to your liking, such as sound. I use ladder sounds, but there may be better ones.

It is best to design with the ladder level so that it will be against a wall when making the trigger. Make the trigger box small enough to allow easy entry and exit without getting "stuck" on the end of the ladder. Placing scripts on furniture (or pieces of furniture) may not be necessary at all, especially if the triggers are well placed. It is recommended to use the script as a failsafe in case NPCs get stuck inside the trigger box in the sandbox.

Due to animation/NPC issues, placing ladders in densely populated areas (such as inns) would be a very terrible idea. You can force NPCs to activate ladders in a certain area if desired (e.g. via script). Or maybe try some wizardry with furniture markings.

There is a repeating cell containing a sample ladder diagram for viewing CK. You can use the console command " coc _pf_houseexample " to coc to a cell in the game. I r …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
