Translation Rejuvenated

🎮 **Completely revised English localization version of "Sekiro"**

✨ Module Features

🔤 Translation revision

Some controversial translation choices in the English version of Sekiro have been corrected in an effort to provide a more realistic translation experience. Although this is still another interpretation based on the original Japanese version, it strives to be closer to the spirit of the original work.

📝 Grammar and wording corrections

Corrected spelling errors, omissions, and other awkward sentence expressions in the English version, while retaining the overall style of the original English.

📋 Paragraph and text format standardization

Sekiro's text format was originally quite confusing, and this mod overhauls every description and menu text by applying unified guidelines, providing a more comfortable reading experience.

🎬 Subtitle cleanup and optional SDH version

The subtitle layout has been standardized and deaf subtitles such as "(cough)" and "(wheezing)" have been removed. An optional SDH version is available for players who require this additional information.

📖 Innovation that fits the background setting

A small amount of descriptive text has been added to places where the game originally did not provide description text, as well as some self-made changes.

🔄 Example of retranslation

  • **Fountainhead → Fountain**

Based on the double meaning of the Japanese word "source", it was changed to the more intuitive "Fountain" while retaining subtle hints of the historical background.

  • **Divine Dragon → Dragon of the Everblossom**

Preserve an important connection to the cherry blossom tree while maintaining a connection to the sacred realm

  • **Guardian Ape → Lion Ape**

Restore the "lion" part, which is more in line with the original Japanese meaning and mythological background

  • **Lady Butterfly → Phantom Butterfly**

Directly translated from the Japanese "phantom butterfly", it is more in line with the ninja naming tradition

  • **Corrupted Monk → Fallen Monk**

Use "Fallen" as a more accurate description to avoid implications of supernatural corruption

  • **Folding Screen Monkeys → Seeing Monkey, Hearing Monkey, Speaking Monkey**

Restore the literal meaning of the original Japanese name, retaining the hint of the fourth invisible monkey

  • **Emma → Ema**

Changed to the real Japanese name "Ema", which is more in line with the background of the Warring States Period

  • **Robert → Roberto**

Based on Nanman trade history, changed to "Roberto" which is more in line with Spanish or Portuguese background.

  • **Memorial Mob → Memorial Flock**

Use "Flock" to better describe this group of people who share common beliefs and customs

  • **O'Rin of the Water → Lady Rin of Mibu**

Changed to "Lady Rin of Mibu", which is more in line with Japanese tradition of polite speech

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
