John's 1899 horse was replaced with Arthur's horse

🎮 **Mod Introduction**

This mod allows you to replace John's default horse from 1899 in Red Dead Redemption 2 with Arthur's iconic white Arabian horse!

✨ Core Functions

  • **One-click replacement**: Directly replace John's horse model with a white Arabian horse.
  • **Highly Customizable**: If you don't want to replace the white Arabian horse, or want to change it to another horse, the module provides detailed tutorials for you to customize it freely.

📖 Custom replacement tutorial

If you want to make a custom replacement instead of using a preset, follow these steps:

⚠️ **IMPORTANT NOTE**: First, you must choose a horse available in the game. Because if you just change the model and spawn your horse in the game, when you log in another day, your horse may be replaced. The main horse generated from the Rampage file is temporary, and sometimes the game will simply replace it with a main model of a Tennessee Walking Horse.

💡 **Tips**: If you don't want NPCs to have the same horse as you, you can choose a rarer horse to replace it, since fewer NPCs will have these horses.

  • **Open File**: Open `RDR2 Horse Texture List.pdf` in the mod folder.
  • **Find File**: Search for the `.ymt` file associated with the `.ytd` file you want.
  • Simply put, `.ymt` files contain data and `.ytd` is texture files.
  • For example, if you want to apply Dutch's horse texture to the white Arabian horse, find `a_c_horse_gang_dutch.ymt` on page 7 and you will see that it is associated with `p_c_horse_01_h_merge_37.ytd` and `p_c_horse_01_h_merge_37+hi.ytd`.
  • **Rename file**:
  • Renamed `a_c_horse_gang_dutch.ymt` to `a_c_horse_arabian_white.ymt`.
  • Rename the original `a_c_horse_arabian_white.ymt` located in the `John's Horse For Arthur/All Horse ymts` folder to `a_c_horse_gang_dutch.ymt` (if you don't want Dutch to have the same texture).
  • **INSTALL FILE**: Drag and drop your new file into the `lml/stream` folder.
  • **Start the game**.
  • **Find and Tame**: Find your new horse in the game and tame it!

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
