Better Character Names v2.0 - Russian Translation
🎯 Module introduction
This mod aims to make our beloved game Red Dead Redemption 2 more realistic and atmospheric. Many NPCs in the game have generic or outdated names that don't fit their appearance, role, or place in the world.
🌟 Translation Features
I strived to translate the original mod in a concise way, taking into account the context of the game and following the conventions of the Russian literary language.
**Major improvements:**
- Added hundreds of new correct character names
- All names are contextually adapted to Russian
- Female characters now have dedicated gender specific names
📋 Future plans
- Adjust NPC names according to region
*Example: In large progressive cities (Saint Denis, Blackwater), NPCs of black race will be named differently than places like Rhodes*
- Add more unique name variations for added variety
- Translate and adapt the names of all merchants, cobblers, gunsmiths and hunters based on RDR2 Wiki data
*Example: Valentine's gunsmith would be called Ralph L. Dalton*
🔗 Compatibility Notes
This localization is fully compatible with the Bandit Hideouts mod. The Bandit Hideouts author has his own translation file, but it only applies to Hired Guns and does not affect the bandits you kill/loot.
Using BCN 2.0 and my localization, this issue was fixed, adding more atmosphere and realism to the game.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
