About this mod Machine translation
BetterPlayerDistance
English
Teammate tracking for PEAK, with a vanilla look that makes finding your group and helping downed players easier.
This mod is built by top-tier AI (opus, fable) and goes through repeated testing and verification before release to keep it reliable. If an unexpected issue still slips through, I'm sorry — come nudge me on 2323086800@qq.com 😕
Features
- Find your team: see names, distances and host crowns, even through obstacles. When close-range distance is disabled, only the distance yields while vanilla would show the name; looking away keeps the distance available.
- Help downed teammates: check status and countdowns, with edge indicators for downed or dead teammates outside your view. Death markers remain for 10 seconds.
- Make it yours: adjust text size, height, opacity and outlines; choose icons, kaomoji or text for status markers. Font settings use 0 for the base size, positive values to enlarge and negative values to shrink.
- Day and night: optionally pair with TimeTheme for day/night colors. The mod works without it too.
- Play nice with other mods: Compatibility Mode keeps the vanilla nameplate visible and hands over to it up close, for mods that draw on it (e.g. Overhead Stamina).
Controls
AlwaysOn by default. Press C to hide or show labels. Hold and timed Toggle modes are also available.
Show Distance Up Close is off by default. Distance is hidden only while vanilla would currently show the nearby name; enable it to keep distance visible at all times.
Compatibility Mode is off by default. Turn it on if another mod draws on the vanilla nameplate: vanilla shows the name up close, this mod takes over everywhere else with a 0.1s cross-fade, and Name Font Size applies to both.
Installation & Settings
- Install BepInExPack.
- Place BetterPlayerDistance.dll in BepInEx/plugins, then launch the game.
- Customize appearance and display behavior in your in-game mod settings.
Config: BepInEx/config/com.AiAe.betterplayerdistance.cfg
Since 1.1.4, distances and Max Display Distance use the same game metres as campfires (currently 1 Unity unit = 1.6 game metres). The default limit is 1600 m, adjustable from 80 to 2400 m; the physical range is unchanged. Existing limits are converted once before settings load, without adding a toggle. The old cfg is backed up as.unity-units-.bak; keep the adjacent *.cfg.game-meters-v1 migration record with the cfg when copying settings. To roll back, restore both the old DLL and the backup cfg, and remove that migration record. Fonts and near-name visibility are unchanged.

Provide PEAK with teammate positioning that is close to the original style: clearly see the position and grasp the status, making finding teammates and comatose rescue more intuitive.

Function
- Teammate positioning: Displays name, distance and owner crown. Teammate tags can also be viewed across obstacles. After turning off the close distance, the distance will only be given when the name should be displayed in the original version at the moment; the distance can still be viewed by turning the viewing angle away.
- Coma rescue: Check the status and countdown. When a comatose or dead teammate is out of sight, there will be an edge pointing; the death position mark will remain for 10 seconds.
- Customize appearance: adjust font size, height, transparency and stroke, choose icons, emoticons or text for status prompts. The font size is set to 0 to follow the base size, with positive numbers enlarging and negative numbers reducing.
- Day and night color matching: You can choose to match TimeTheme to let the label change color according to day and night; it can be used normally without installation.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
