NOTE: Since this is the first released version of this mod, there may still be bugs or balance issues. Don't hesitate to report them.

Welcome to the new dawn!

The goal of this mod is to greatly improve the Native game by using the Floris Mod Pack as a base, which is already a big improvement. The main changes are:

A more active world with dozens of new parties and factions fighting each other across the map.

Larger parties and armies, which also make the game harder, especially in the beginning.

3000 new and high quality items.

Rebalanced item stats and skills. Armor is now more protective, but also heavier.

500 new troops and a wider troop tree. Each faction has several types of troops, all serving specific roles.

11 new minor factions roaming the world. They can both raise armies and attempt to capture the castle. If they succeed, a new faction forms, which behaves similarly to the regular faction. Therefore, there can be up to 17 factions at the same time (although such a high number is highly unlikely). 12 new castles have also been added.

Detailed functions

fighting

All troops have increased health (the player and his companions in combat gain higher health, which is not visible in their character sheets). Ironflesh provides the player and his companions with 3 additional hp skill levels during combat.

Armor protection and weight values have been increased. In addition to this, units using light armor receive high mobility and movement values, while units with heavy armor generally receive very low values. This makes heavy troops more resilient than before, but much slower, especially compared to lighter soldiers.

Crossbows take more time to reload, but also deal more damage, distinguishing them from bows. Penetration against shields has also been increased, and repeating crossbows (which deal lower damage) have been added.

The Pyke weapon has lost its overhead attack. This makes robots more effective when using them in groups, especially cavalry.

Armored horses' charge damage has been significantly increased. Injured horses move more slowly. Camels and elephants have been added!

Troops are now more likely to flee when a battle is about to be lost.

Forms are available to both players and AI. Possible formations include wedge, square, and shield walls.

For large battles (involving more than 100 soldiers), the size of the battlefield has been greatly increased. This leaves more room for deployment and should hopefully make strategy even more important as more strategies become feasible. New orders (such as skirmishes) are also available.

Troop trees

Troops now have 3000 new high qualities to choose from. Low-level and mid-level units tend to spawn a variety of equipment to reduce uniformity, while elite units usually use uniform equipment.

Every major faction now has level 8 troops. The units are balanced with price and training time, making it almost financially impossible to field a large elite unit since top-tier soldiers can cost hundreds of dollars per week. Instead, players should choose a high-quality army, a medium-sized army of quality soldiers, or a large group of chaff. Leadership and charisma now cause the party size to increase.

The main factions specialize in 4 different types of troops, with T7 (only one of which reaches T8) and 6 types in T4 and T5. Each faction still has its own specialization (the Norse use almost no cavalry, while the khergits have very little infantry) but can choose from several roles - such as defensive (shield) and offensive (2-handed weapons) infantry. Specialized anti-cavalry units such as pikemen or mulattos (infantry/archers) now exist.

Mercenaries have their own troop tree, which is no larger than the native tree. However, there are many mercenaries that cannot be obtained through leveling up and must be recruited through the tavern or prisoner stack.

Minor factions have their own troop trees, albeit on a much smaller scale.

Some AI lords get their own special forces mi …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
