Metal Gear Solid Model Manager
Minor bugfixes and debug logging. If you are updating from a previous version, just install it normally on your existing SnakeBite.
Mod Manager for Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain
SnakeBite is an unofficial, open source mod manager for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Mod Manager can install and uninstall Mod Files (.MGSV file extension) to the game's data patch archives (0\00.dat and 0\01.dat). Additionally, mod managers can save and load collections of mods as Mod Preset Files (.MGSVPreset file extension).
Makebite is a companion application to SnakeBite for formatting and building .MGSV Mod files. Makebite automatically installs next to SnakeBite.
Snakebite logs the user's currently installed mods in snakebite.xml, located in the game's base directory. The snakbite.xml file is updated whenever mods pass Snakbite Manager, ensuring the integrity of modified game files.
Both SnakeBite and Makebite record the user's current session in a Debug file named log.txt, which is located in the SnakeBite installation directory. The file updates in real time and provides users with useful diagnostics.

Launch the launcher
Once the installation and setup is complete, the Startup Launcher will be displayed.
Start the game: Launch Phantom Pain via Steam and exit the mod manager.
Mods: Open the mod installation and uninstallation interface.
Settings: Open the settings interface.
Exit: Exit Mod Manager.
The MGSV game version and SnakeBite application version are displayed in the lower left corner of the Startup Launcher. Double-click the version text to open the debug log. By default, this launcher is displayed when starting SnakeBite, but users can choose to skip directly to the Mod interface on startup (Mods -> Options -> Skip Startup Launcher).
Mod interface
Mod Interface is SnakeBite’s main menu. Mods can be installed, viewed and uninstalled via the Mod Interface. Additionally, many functions and shortcuts can be accessed through the window's menu bar.
Install .MGSV Files: Prompts the user to select one or more .MGSV Mod files.
After selecting the file, the SnakeBite Install Manager window will appear. This menu allows you to preview mod information, add and remove mods from the installation list, and modify the installation order of mods. The installation manager will also check for conflicts between mods. Clicking on the Continue Installation button will start the installation process of the selected mod.
Once the mod is installed, clicking on the mod's name will display information about it. This information includes the name of the mod, the mod's author, the mod's website link, and a description of the mod provided by the author.
Uninstall Checked Mod(s): Uninstall any mod that has a check mark to the left of its name.
Double-clicking on a mod will mark the checkbox, thus marking the mod as uninstalled.
Clicking the checkbox in the upper left corner of the Mod Interface window will mark all installed mods for installation.
The checkbox is only for uninstalling the mod. Unlike Mod Manager or Mod Organizer, checkboxes do not activate or deactivate mods. Mods installed via SnakeBite are always active.
Launch the game: Launch Phantom Pain via Steam and exit the mod manager.
Browse SnakeBite Compatible Mods: Open the search page in your default web browser. This page displays search results for any Phantom Pain mod that contains the text '[SBWM]' in the long description.
For the convenience of SnakeBite users, Mod Authors are advised to add [SBWM] to their mod's description. Tags can also increase a mod's visibility.
Even if a mod is tagged with [SBWM], it may still be out of date with the latest version of MGSV. Outdated mods (especially script-heavy ones) may cause infinite loading screens or game crashes, but they may still work as expected. For example, texture mods will usually work fine even if they are for an earlier version of the game.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
