Install
Automatic installation
Search for installations directly using Gale, r2modman or Mod Manager.
Manual installation:
Prerequisite: Install BepInEx (version 5.4.21).
- Download LCChineseFont.dll and FontPatcher.zip from Releases.
- Place LCChineseFont.dll into the BepInEx/plugins folder.
- Unzip FontPatcher.zip and place it in the BepInEx/config folder.
After installation, your BepInEx folder should look like this:
BepInEx/
├── plugins/LCChineseFont.dll
└── config/FontPatcher/default/00 zh
Configuration
BepInEx/config/syrupdesu.lcchinesefont.cfg will be generated after the first startup:
| Options | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| UsingNormalIngameFont | true | Whether to use the game's own font. When true, English uses the original font, and missing words are filled in by the font package. Set to false to leave rendering entirely to the font package |
| UsingTransmitIngameFont | true | Same as above, for the font used by the signal translator |
| NormalFontNameRegex | ^(b\|DialogueText\|3270.*)$ | Matches the name of a normal font that needs to be filled in |
| TransmitFontNameRegex | ^edunline.*$ | Same as above, for the signal translator |
| FontAssetsPath | FontPatcher\default | Font package storage path |
| Log | false | Turn log on or off |
Font package variants
In addition to the default 00 zh, there are two variants in test-bundles/, you can choose according to your favorite taste:
| Font Packs | Sampling | Filters |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 00 zh (default) | 80 pt (5x grid) | Point |
| 01 en bilinear | 80 pt (5x grid) | Bilinear |
| 02 en native | 16 pt (1:1 grid) | Point |
Add new font package:
- Put the font package you want to use into BepInEx/config/FontPatcher//.
- Change FontAssetsPath in the configuration to FontPatcher\.
build
Prepare
-.NET SDK (for compilation to net472, which is .NET Framework 4.7.2)
- The assembly directory that comes with the game (Lethal Company_Data/Managed) is used to compile plug-ins
- Only required when rebuilding the font package: Unity 2022.3.62f2 (requires Windows Build Support (Mono) module to be installed), python3 and fonttools, UnityPy
Build plugin
Debug: You can use TestDeployPath to specify where to copy after building to facilitate direct testing.
dotnet build -c Debug \
-p:LethalCompanyDir="/path/to/Lethal Company/Lethal Company_Data/Managed" \
-p:TestDeployPath="/path/to/Lethal Company/BepInEx/plugins/"
Release: Generate a compressed package under build/ at the same time
dotnet build -c Release \
-p:LethalCompanyDir="/path/to/Lethal Company/Lethal Company_Data/Managed"
- LethalCompanyDir defaults to the Steam path on Windows and needs to be specified manually on other systems.
- For packaging, tcli is used first; if it is not installed or cannot be used, it will be returned to tools/package-.py, which will generate the same compressed package in .toml format. To skip bundling entirely, add -p:EnableTcliBuild=false.
Build font package
tools/build-bundles.sh # Build and verify (using sample character set)
tools/build-bundles.sh --full-hanzi # Add all general standard Chinese character tables to the font package
Check the font’s coverage of the Chinese character table:
python3 tools/check_coverage.py fonts/unifont-18.0.01.otf data/tongyong-guifan-hanzibiao.txt

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
