Arduous Hardships

PACK INFORMATION

Arduous Hardships is not a traditional Lethal Company mod pack that just throws together a ton of mods all at once and calls it there, or one that adds a ton of immersion breaking content. This mod pack tries to retain as much of the vanilla aesthetic as possible, while having the first game redesign/overhaul of this style attached to it: Completely changing every major aspect of all the moons in the vanilla game, and making them have entire different gameplay loops; some gimmicks being very outlandish and not at all traditional to normal Lethal Company gameplay. In case you don't know, there's quite a lot of technical aspects that run in the background for how the game chooses to spawn things in, but all you really need to know is that, normally, not every single monster or scrap item is capable of spawning on every single moon in the vanilla game, Baboon Hawks cannot spawn on Experimentation normally for example, and every monster has numbers that occupy two different caps for what is and is not allowed to spawn in. This mod pack not only alters those factors, but several other major ones, like the interior selection chances, and the amount of hazards like turrets that are able to spawn.

Every other moon costs money besides Experimentation, you are forced to complete the first quota by only landing on it, and the challenge it has is not necessarily only for veterans of the game, but a less experienced player at the general gameplay and/or technical aspects of the game may not enjoy playing it and the rest of this mod pack. As such, I don't recommend trying to play if you are lacking in either department. You could play with a lack of technical knowledge, but some gimmicks may be more difficult to understand or properly handle while playing. Below is an explanation/breakdown of Experimentation's gameplay design, I'm giving you the option to stop reading from here if you want to experience it in game yourself. Additionally, you can check out the wiki tab page for this pack to read more moon edit explanations, as well as more info on other modded additions that may be hard to understand.

Experimentation only has a single scrap item spawn alongside the Apparatus (usually a gold bar), and the monster spawns for inside are ones not difficult to deal with by themselves, but bad in combo with one another, such as the Jester, the Bracken, Coil-Heads, Barbers, etc. Additionally, if you want to get the Apparatus, a total of three Old Birds are guaranteed to spawn outside, acting as guardians to prevent you getting extra money via the apparatus at the end of the first quota. However, as a tip, Old Birds do not see people crouched when they are flying in the sky, if they do not see them prior to crouching, and they always were meant to behave this way, but it didn't work for non-host clients until v80 released. This is a pretty important counterplay to Old Birds as a whole, not just for my Exp edit. I would advise considering your weight also when you're going back to ship.

ADDITIONAL CONTENTS

  • One modded monster attempting to add onto the main cast, who may not be directly harmful themself, but can cause tons of unique situations alongside the other monsters. Just know this: He does not summon.
  • An entire new weather condition, rarely appearing and providing a difficult challenge, but also potential for insane extra profit.
  • Lots of modded scrap items, some having their own gimmicks attached, like being able to damage/kill you.
  • Tons of cosmetic additions, such as new Mineshaft cave types, a non-lethal storm always occurring on Gordion, additional variants for vanilla game scrap items, and every vanilla monster (besides the new v80 ones) having an entire new appearance.
  • Rebalances/buffs given to various store items, including free and weightless Pro-Flashlights!
  • Rebalances/buffs for various scrap items.

RUNNING THE PACK

For those concerned about how many mods are in this m

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
