Enhanced Global Illumination and Lighting
✨ **Enhanced Lighting Mod – Custom Adjustments**
Hey! Come check out Dynamic Fog - Weather - Lighting! *It is compatible with this mod. *
Special thanks to **nimbuI** for creating the necessary tools and developing this mod! With their permission, I'm sharing a version that's been tweaked to fit my personal preferences. You are welcome to further adjust these settings to your liking.
All included screenshots were taken using the settings closest to the "Intense" preset.

🛠️ Installation method
Can be installed using **Vortex**, or manually extract the ZIP file into your mods folder.
---
🔄 Switch/Cycle settings
After installing the mod, the enhanced GI settings are enabled by default. To compare to vanilla lighting, disable mods or compare configuration files, two commands are bundled by default:
```
F6 -> Switch enhanced GI
F7 -> Cycle through all GI profiles (weak, balanced, strong)
```
---
⚙️ Custom settings
For best results, it is recommended to set the in-game global illumination settings to **Ultra High Quality**.
The multi-profile version allows adding multiple e_svoTI configurations by using "GI_RegisterProfile" in EGI.cfg. The default profiles are located in the EnhancedGI/profiles folder.
- Use GI_DefaultProfile to change the default GI profile
- Use GI_NightProfile to set a custom profile for night loading (or vanilla settings)
- Shortcut key bindings can be assigned to a specific GI profile: GI_SetProfile
- For more customization, you can bind the editor commands GI_CycleCvars and GI_ScaleCVar to adjust profile settings in real time (advanced feature)

🎮Performance considerations
If you want to enhance indirect lighting without affecting performance, comment or delete the "GI_ExperimentalCVars" line in EGI.cfg.
Having only one CVar in the config file affects FPS significantly:
```
e_svoTI_DiffuseConeWidth = 4; Reduce light leakage, the default value is 8
```
In the Random Forest scene, setting DiffuseConeWidth to 4 drops the frame rate from 90 to 86 (RTX 3080, 3440x1440, DLSS quality).
*We do not set e_svoTI_NumberOfBounces by default*. If set to 2 (recommended), use ultra-high quality global illumination. It can be set up to 3, but the performance impact is greater and we don't think it's worth it.

⚠️ Known Issues/Incompatibilities
If you experience stroboscopic, flickering or pulsating lighting effects, they are not caused by this module. Please make sure e_svoTI_AsyncCompute=1 is not used in user.cfg. AsyncCompute can cause global illumination problems, and enhanced GI can make these problems more obvious. Enhanced GI will attempt to automatically disable e_svoTI_AsyncCompute. If you really need to enable it, add GI_letmeturnonasync in EGI.cfg.
The script used by this mod relies on a hardcoded **EGI.cfg** file path. **If you rename the mod or EGI.cfg or move any files, the mod will become invalid. **This is a limitation of some custom features.

🔬 Experimental settings
The v1.2 update introduces a new shadow CVar for budget/LOD management. The experimental setup mainly restores these to their pre-patch state with enhancements.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
