Vulkan DXVK 2.1 ASYNC Module - Eliminate texture loading lag
🎮 **Test environment**: This module is mainly tested on **nVIDIA graphics card**. Support for **AMD graphics cards** varies and may not work properly.
---
✨ Core Functions
Using **Vulkan DXVK Async** technology, the game finally gets rid of the lag problem when loading textures! 🚀
⚠️ **IMPORTANT**: When this mod is enabled, **DLSS, NVIDIA Low Latency Mode, and Ray Tracing will be disabled**.
🎨 **Enable HDR**: If you want to enable HDR, open the `dxvk.conf` file, find and uncomment (remove the `#` sign) this line: `# dxgi.enableHDR = True`.
---
📦 Module contains content
This integration package contains the following components:
- Integrated various **Engine.ini file optimization settings** from communities such as Reddit.
- **DXVK 2.1 Async branch** from Ph42oN/dxvk-gplasync.
- **VKD3D** from HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton.
---
📥 Installation Guide
- **Engine.ini file**:
- From the `WindowsNoEditor` folder, copy the `Engine.ini` file to the following directory:
`%AppData%\Local\Hogwarts Legacy\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor`
- **or**, you can also use your preferred `Engine.ini` file.
⚠️ **Critical Setting**: If using your own `Engine.ini`, **Make sure** to add the following lines to avoid DXVK crashes when using the "luminos" spell in certain scenarios:
`r.AllowPointLightCubemapShadows=0`
⚠️ **Video memory settings**: If you use the `Engine.ini` provided by the module, please modify the value of `r.Streaming.PoolSize` according to your graphics card memory:
- 6GB VRAM: set to `2048`
- 8GB VRAM: set to `3072`
- 12GB video memory: set to `4096`
- **Core files**:
- From the `Win64` folder, copy `d3d12.dll`, `dxgi.dll`, `dxvk.conf` and `dxvk_config.dll` to the `Win64` directory of the game main program:
`\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Binaries\Win64`
- **Clear cache**:
- **Delete** all contents within the `%ProgramData%\Hogwarts Legacy` folder. (**VERY IMPORTANT**)
- **First run**:
- Start the game and **wait patiently for the shader compilation to complete**.
- After the first compilation is completed, exit the game and **launch the game again**.
🎉 Now, enjoy a smooth and lag-free experience!

⚙️ Performance Notes
About **FPS (Frame Rate)**:
- If you have an older CPU, this mod may **boost** your FPS.
- If you have a newer CPU, FPS may be slightly lower than when using native DX12, but stuttering will be significantly improved.
- It is recommended that you test it yourself and decide whether to use it.
---
⚠️ Known issues
- **Poor AMD graphics card support**: Does not work properly on the latest RX6xxx series, RX570, RX5700, etc. models. Effects vary from person to person.
- **Launch Crash**: If the game crashes on launch, make sure you **don't press any keys or move the mouse** before the "Press any key" screen appears. This usually solves the problem.
---
🗑️ Uninstall method
To revert to the original DX12 mode, simply delete all files added by the mod and empty the `%ProgramData%\Hogwarts Legacy` folder again.
---

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
