Introduction

The plasma rifle was supposed to be the pinnacle of energy weapons, a breakthrough in pre-war infantry weapons, so what did we get? A bunch of pipes stuck together to form something that looks like it might break if it hits a wall or something. So, I wanted to make something that looked like a plasma gun from a military weapon. Taking some inspiration from Doom and some other science fiction novels, here you go.

With this gun, you get a simple plasma rifle, a shotgun, a sniper rifle and a smart rifle with homing projectiles - all depending on the barrel currently installed. In addition, it has another firing mode - by connecting the overcharge module to the lower rail, you will be able to activate it and fire explosive projectiles, which also depends on the installed barrel - a single boom with a carbine barrel, multiple smaller booms with a decoupler, a propelled grenade with an accelerator and a propelled grenade with a target-aiming barrel.

The damage output is slightly higher than the original plasma rifle (192+192 vs 180+180, the top attachment has the highest gun speciality).

Contains

6 receivers - increased damage output per level;

8 types of barrels - Carbine, Carbine Improvement, Injector Improvement, Accelerator, Accelerator Improvement, Target Seek, Target Seek Improvement. The improved version has better properties and changes projectiles (and glowing weapon parts) to blue. Carbine and aiming barrels have integrated flashlights and laser sights, spray barrels only have flashlights;

2 laser sight colors (only for carbines and sighted barrels) - red and green, can be enabled/disabled/changed anywhere using hotkeys or controller items;

2 magazines - standard and improved (higher capacity);

4 sights - Default flip-up reflex sight (will be activated if you don't have any other sights installed), Aurora RS591C holographic sight, Lightforce 1-6x32 sight, ATACS MK28 sighting system. There is an MCM menu for the sight controller that allows changing the magnification of Lightforce and ATACS, as well as switching target acquisition and night vision of ATACS without using a workbench;

4 types of stocks - Mk.I, Mk.II, Marksman, Recoil Compensation;

1 Lower Barrel Attachment - Overcharge Module. Enables a second launch option that can be toggled via hotkey or controller item. The second firing mode fires explosive projectiles in different forms depending on the currently installed barrel - a guerrilla grenade with a carbine barrel, multiple smaller guerrilla grenades with a split barrel, a propelled grenade with an accelerator barrel, a homing propelled grenade with a aiming barrel. The second firing method uses its own separate ammo - the X12 Overcharged Cell - which can be crafted at the Chemistry Workbench, or you can swap for plasma-related items (cartridges, grenades, mines) in the weapon controller menu, accessible via hotkeys or controller items;

8 skins (separate from another download to reduce main save file size) - Default, Brotherhood of Steel, Pride of Lyon, Enclave, Academy, Militia, Railroad, Rusty;

Damage modifier (another separate download) - from -60% to +1000% base damage (because why not).

The controller is divided into 4 hotkeys: shooting mode switcher (semi/auto), sight controller (zoom/acquisition/night vision), weapon controller (laser sight/flashlight/ammunition swap), second design.

Also for console players and those who don't have too many free hotkeys (or don't want the MCM), the Chemistry Workbench has a free craftable chemistry - it has all the functionality in one menu. If you want to use it from the Favorites menu, you'll make two of …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
