----
If I (the original author woodylicious, the same below) really lived in the Fallout Wasteland, this mod contains many things I would make with the materials and tools I have on hand. For example, the "Barrel Fireplace" is one of them. I've always wondered why Fallout 4 didn't have something similar by default, but now it does.
This mod is basically just that; a cobbled together collection of all kinds of cool elements that I think the game needs while trying to stay "according to the backstory".
I'm an experienced modeler but just started working on radiation mods, please let me know if you encounter any bugs. I'll be adding various items to this mod over time that fit the backstory, so for now I have the barrel fireplace and shed parts. You can find it in the "Buildings" menu in the main workshop menu.
Remember, this mod now requires the Settlement Menu Manager to work properly.
Possible future plans
I'm considering adding my own custom "cabin kit". Don't get me wrong, the default game hut is cool, and I later added a few extra items like everyone else, but I just thought adding something new and cool to the game while keeping it "story friendly" would help keep it fresh
Feeling and freshness.
Updated version 4. April 19, 2018
I had wanted to add more items to version 4 of this mod, but the "living items" caught me off guard and I didn't know how long it would take to complete the rest of the content. So I wanted to just post what I have so far.
So what’s new? My favorite part of this update is the new "Cabin Power System" which utilizes some similar features from the Vault Kit DLC. All standard flat walls and half walls include a pipe connection point, centered on the inside and outside of the wall, to which I added an external and internal fuse box for snap-in. Once powered on, all wall, floor, foundation and roof components radiate electricity, illuminating the entire cabin, eliminating the need for conduit connectors on the roof and the hassle of adding conduit around the cabin. All standard conduit connectors also snap into the wall in case you don't want to use the fuse box. Unfortunately, this update also requires the Wasteland Workshop DLC to work properly. To update an existing hut, you may need to save and reload multiple times, fast travel, or better yet enter workshop mode and grab the wall to which the fuse box is attached. Then move it out of the way and press Tab to cancel. It should update later. A number of adjustments have also been made to help reduce jitter when catching curtains and floor/foundation components.
Other new items include:
Stackable turret mounts, 1- and 2-tier wired turret mounts (must use connector on bottom layer to work),
Taller tower (about 1/3 to 2 times height) 1
Candle lanterns (2 types of hanging types),
3 wheelbarrow decorative fill types; dirt, vegetables, wet cement
1 milk jug
1 milk bucket
1 butter churn
1 razor straw pile (2 types)
To update, you should be able to directly overwrite the original mod. New menus have been added, but no major changes have been made to existing content.
Updated version 3.9 January 28, 2018
This update adds a lot of new content, including tweaks and fixes. The roof support columns were re-added with new connection points, allowing them to be stacked. The stone fireplace saucepan has also been fixed and should snap in more easily now. Smoke types have also been adjusted, with stone fireplaces being more discreet and not flowing to the ceiling. Below is a list of new items.
- Architecture: Added 2 new flat cabin walls for added variety
- Architecture: Added a stone fireplace wall for added variety.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
