When you reach a configurable level, there's a brief mission that leads you to California. The required level can be set in MCM. The mission is named "Destiny Manifested."
|
ESM with ESL logo | Recommended for new games or clean installs of Shelter 13. After completing the mod's quick intro mission, you can travel between world spaces at will via flying birds.

This patch makes the Vault 13 demo more compatible with regular Fallout 4 mods, although some minor patches may still be needed in some places. You can double-check your mods in xEdit and feel free to upload any patches you may find.

I've playtested this mod quite a bit, but don't hesitate to report issues with Westward Bound.
However, Vault 13 quest issues or bugs should still be submitted directly to the main project's developers on their mod page.

Have fun!
Install
MO2 is highly recommended for this purpose and comes with The Midnight Ride guide as a base.
I don't recommend installing it on a save file that already has the Fallout 13 demo installed. However, it should work better to install the demo and this mod at the same time, as this is functionally Vault 13 as a DLC.
The Fallout: Vault 13 demo states that it requires downgrading the game on the original page.
If the Vault 13 team is open to this, I can and will update this patch to work with any version of the game.
If you want a more detailed downgrade guide, follow The Midnight Ride.

You can use these mods to downgrade your game in minutes. If you follow the steps below, you can keep your free next-gen-CC content.

Creation Club content, including free next-gen content, is compatible with Westward Bound.
Westbound Installation!! Before starting!!, please make sure you have downloaded all the requirements
- Download and install Fallout: Vault 13 using MO2.
- Move "Fallout Vault 13 - Demo" to the left side of MO2 near the beginning of the load sequence. Make sure to place it after the vanilla/DLC/CC files in MO2, and before most other mods.
- Move "Westward Bound" to MO2 near the beginning of the left-center load sequence. Make sure it is placed directly after "Fallout Vault 13 - Demo".
Both mods are .esm, so just make sure they're loaded near the top of the list on the right along with the other esm's.
- Copy the INI adjustments from the bottom of the Fallout Vault 13 - Demo modpage.
Open the .ini editor in MO2 (puzzle icon at the top of MO2)
Open Fallout4Custom.ini and replace the [Archive] section with the ini tweaks for V13.
If you don't have an [Archive] section in your Fallout4Custom.ini, just paste the adjustments at the top of the .ini.
- Open the installation of "Fallout Vault 13 - Demo" in MO2 or File Explorer.
Hide or delete the "F4SE", "PBT", "PRKF" and "Video" folders in "Fallout Vault 13 - Demo".
That's it! You can now play Fallout 4 as usual and visit California to play Vault 13 at any time just like any other DLC!

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
