describe
WEST TEK TACTICAL OPTICS adds new tactical visors and eyepieces with new meshes and textures, fully modular, craftable, and upgradeable at the Armor Workbench, with 3 primary visual effects, with various brightness options, 2 secondary enhancements, and 8 colors. The base goggles provide +1 Perception, and any combination of mods can be added to customize them to your playstyle or appearance. All mods can switch between goggles and eyepieces. Once you unlock crafting, you can also create large schematic posters for each project, which look really sweet on your workbench area (see image).
Starting with version 2.0, a toggle switch is implemented and a multi-view mode with visual looping can be added. Additionally, all visual modes can be used on Power Armor! Finally, the goggles have the option to animate to forehead position when switching! See this article or watch the video to learn more!
The night vision goggles are 100% new mesh and texture I made from scratch and I'm so happy with how they turned out. I cut the eyepiece out of the Institute staff's costume, added a few things, cleaned it up, fixed the UV rays and made new textures.
The visual mode is made for dark environments, so pairing it with mods like Dark Sky and Interior Enhancement is highly recommended. I'm willing to make variations of brightness levels, but please understand I can't accommodate every request as everyone's monitor brightness and viewing situations are vastly different.
The following mods are available for both sets of optics:
Install/Uninstall
Installation should be straightforward. Use NMM or extract the file to the /DATA/ folder.
If you want to uninstall, please uninstall GOGGLES first before you save the game and remove the mods!
Primary visual mode
None (cosmetics)
Night Vision - Available in three brightness levels. Made for the darkest areas, somewhat mimicking real night vision. The lenses glow green.
Heat Dissipation - Two brightnesses, but makes all creatures glow red. Corpses turn blue after death and remain visible for 15 minutes, allowing for easy looting in the dark. The lenses also glow red.
Aiming HUD - Same mode as Power Armor. Doesn't enhance the light but highlights the target. The lenses glow white.
New MULTI-VISION mode, which allows you to apply multiple effects to one eyepiece and cycle through them! Please read this article carefully for details
Each vision mode has a "cosmetic" version that doesn't apply the visual effects, but just makes the lenses glow the respective color.
All visual modes can now be retrofitted into Power Armor helmets
secondary effects
VATS Positioning Matrix - Improve VATS accuracy by 10%
Recon Sensor - Marked line of sight enemies (similar effect to Recon Scope)
COLORS
Default (grey)
black
blue
chromium

How to get items
In order to craft or upgrade these items, you need to find the schematics, which can be found in the Med Tek Research lobby under the table in the entrance/receiving area, along with the delivery letter. Reading these schematics will permanently unlock production in the Chem Station under Utility, or if you download the patch, production will be moved to the AWKCR production workbench under ACCESSORIES - CYBERTECH. You also need first level Armorer and Science perks.
High-tech goggles have a low chance of spawning on high-level gunners, and very low tech on raiders and super mutants. They'll also be sold by Lucas Miller, Cricket, KLE-O and Proctor Teagan, starting around level 16, so there's a chance you'll find some in the wild. However, you cannot modify any optics you find until you read the schematic and have the required privileges. The list has two options: Standard (which needs to be manually merged into my preferences) or Script-Injected, which is plug-and-play.
Backstory
West Tek was a pre-war defense contractor working for the US government, which manufactured the T-45d and T-51b power armor as well as the FEV virus. If you re …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
