About this mod:
Wastelanders is an extensive mod that adds 10 boss-like NPCs to the world of Fallout 4, each with unique armor, weapons, and abilities.
These characters all have their own legends and are all connected in some way. It's up to you to discover how and why.
Powerful items and abilities await you - if you're strong enough.
This mod doesn't hold back. It doesn't hold your hand. If you don't build your character correctly, you'll die almost instantly from most bosses. There are no tasks or task markers. The legend is vague. Most bosses are available from the beginning of the game. They are placed so as not to interfere with normal gameplay.
Preface and History:
I (original author ZoeyKL, the same below) started this mod about three years ago. The purpose of this mod is to expand on original bosses like Absolom and Reggie Blatteria. It quickly grew into an entirely different mod that I filled with personal projections, including events from my past, my own struggles with mental illness, my gender identity, and my struggle with the truth about my biology. The mod used to have a mechanic where you could gain perks by defeating bosses, but this was eventually removed due to how buggy it was. After the release of v0.5, the mod moved to Patreon. I've gotten all the feedback I need. This mod has been completed for almost a year and I'm ready to release it publicly.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of things I want to change and add, but frankly, I've been working so hard on this mod for two years straight and I'm exhausted. This, as well as the current personal situation, makes the act of creativity very difficult.
Install:
I don't care how you install it, but I'm old and installing things manually like I've been since 2005. For the love of Lucifer, please stop using WinRar, it's old and doesn't support most modern compression algorithms. Please use 7zip instead. It's updated regularly, it's free, and it's better in every way.
I have some BodySlide files on my Patreon page if you want them.
I have a very old version on my Patreon page that has a functioning perks system, but has more bugs and is relatively incomplete.
Content warning:
If you have problems with any of these, please do not download this mod.
This mod includes an instance of explicit nudity and provides nudity for one of the NPCs.
This mod contains clear visual representations of hermaphroditism/chimerism.
This mod contains lore involving child abuse by government agencies, political exile, kidnapping, torture, rape, drug abuse, homicide, mutilation, forced genetic experimentation, loss of parents, and suicidal ideation.
The following information is important:
You must launch Was with a new save file or a save file where the mod has not been loaded before.
You must have bBorderRegionsEnabled=0 in the INI, otherwise some locations will not be accessible.
If you suspect a bug, glitch, or game crash when using an item added or accessing a location using this mod, please notify me immediately.
Some bugs are not bugs and some I won't fix, please be sure to check the bugs section before reporting anything.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
