About this mod Machine translation

A staple of the NCR arsenal, the Service Rifle is an iconic sight in Fallout: New Vegas and has now been completely remastered for Fallout 4. Featuring both the Service Rifle and its sister weapon, the Assault Carbine, this mod is designed to deliver a killer and flawless reimagining of the original weapon. Blast the Commonwealth with NCR's signature weapon, or swap out some mods to convert to an assault carbine for maximum firepower.

With dozens of unique meshes and textures, a unique set of sounds, and a full set of custom animations, Service Rifle seamlessly blends into Fallout 4's lore and aesthetic.

VISUAL MOD PROGRESS:

As you move to the better modes, there are clear visual differences in their styles. Lower quality mods will show their age and wear with rust and damage, while higher quality mods are cleaner and less beatable. Additionally, each of the mod's main levels has a unique visual appearance, so you can tell at a glance whether that raider's hodge-podge rifle is worth picking up!

Common mode:

Universal Mods are part of a system designed for Fallout Cascadia where mods can be shared between weapons via universal adapters or 'picatinny rails'. The service rifle has two slots available for universal modules: accessories and scope. To mount most scopes on a service rifle, you first need to install the rail adapter, which provides the mounting interface for the scope. Once attached, you will see the scope available for you to install. The flat-top receiver can be mounted directly on a general-purpose oscilloscope without the need for an adapter.

Accessories are easier to use - they will appear in their own slots and don't require any setup if the bucket you're using supports them. However, some barrels, such as the stubby Breacher Barrel, have no attachment points and cannot use attachments.

balance:

The Service Rifle goes well with the vanilla game. It has a starting damage of 30 and uses 5.56 rounds by default. Auto-fire is scaled similar to the vanilla game, where auto-receiver damage is reduced by around 50%. Compared to vanilla weapons, it is a mid-to-high-level weapon with damage output similar to the crafting rifles in the Nuka world. It has higher accuracy and lower recoil than most vanilla weapons of the same class. At the highest level, it will be one of the best assault rifles in the game due to its high accuracy and virtually no recoil, but its pure DPS damage output will be beaten by weapons like the Gauss Rifle or the Auto-Plasma Rifle.

Install:

Unzip, copy+paste into Data folder. Or use NMM.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
