Wasteland Monster: Radiated Stork

As seen in Mutant Zoo: Life Finds a Way

"Radiated storks are large, bipedal mutant birds that stand taller than the average human. As their name suggests, they may have mutated from local populations of wood storks. Physically, they resemble an unholy combination of a prehistoric terror bird and an African shoebill. Their plumage colors tend to be a mix of pink and black, while their bodies are often a sickly gray or faded pink. Unlike many other birds of the moors, radiated storks have retained most of their feathers - Even though they tend to spend most of their time on the ground, their powerful legs make them efficient sprinters, which comes in handy when running for prey.

Radiated storks tend to live, roam and hunt in flocks. They are opportunistic hunters, feeding on smaller mutants, fish and sea creatures, as well as larger, more hateful mutants - if given the chance. Raztok are cautious creatures and will not attack immediately unless frightened or disturbed. They also tend to strike only when the odds are in their favor. They prefer to slowly approach and surround the threat, then charge full force to overwhelm the opponent. That's not to say, though, that storks aren't dangerous when caught off guard. Cornered, Rad's Storks will fight like hell to survive, and their strength and agility make them a force to be reckoned with.

If you find yourself in a position where you need to deal with one or more Radiated Storks, my advice is relatively simple. Keep your distance and don't let yourself be surrounded. Radstocks move fast and hit hard, but they aren't particularly durable. Everything from sustained small arms fire to mountains of lead bullets should get the job done. The danger arises when a group of storks closes the gap and gangs up to attack you. If this happens, finding higher ground can serve as a temporary reprieve. Since storks will not attack immediately, I recommend taking your time to position yourself to a favorable position. If you find yourself victorious, be sure not to let a damn thing go to waste. Radiated storks are highly valued by hunters, and scavengers like to plunder their nests wherever possible. Everything about them, from their dense beaks to their rough feathers, is useful to craftsmen. Their premium meat and giant pink eggs are great food. In fact, storks are indeed the largest source of poultry in New England.

What mod is this?

Wasteland Monsters: Fallout Storks is more of a mini-mod, a simple, standalone add-on that introduces a new creature to Fallout 4 as efficiently as possible. The Wasteland Monster Manual is designed as a series of mods that let you introduce new, lore-friendly creatures in simple, bite-sized chunks—with little to no impact on your gameplay or load order. There is no world space editing or addition, a single script injector task, and no additional systems. You get a creature, some new loot, a taxidermy recipe and a creature cage, and maybe a crafting recipe or two. All designed to blend with the original Fallout 4. If you're interested in all the creatures found in Mutant Zoo, but don't want all the critters or all the extra bells and whistles, then Wasteland Animal Encyclopedia is for you!

What can I find in this mod?

The Fallout Stork is a territorial terror bird ripped straight from Fallout 4’s concept art! They won't be immediately hostile, but if you allow yourself to get too comfortable around them, they may crawl on top of you and take the opportunity to attack. With this mod you will encounter Radstock and Radstagg. They have multiple level variations, unique loo …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
