Fixed two minor issues related to pip-boy; weapon positioning after switching weapons and small FOV adjustment when putting pipboy in power armor

Updated on July 13, 2025:

Version 1.1.2

Fixed some issues with the FOMOD installer (some options linked to wrong paths.

Version 1.1.1

Corrected a minor bug related to the Power Armor FOV fix that caused brief camera issues when entering or leaving the terminal.

Version 1.1.0

Installer reworked in FOMOD to include patches for Tactical Reload 1.1, Sprint Reload, See Through Scopes, Melee Hold Block.

Made some minor changes to MeleeBehavior.hkx in preparation for future mods: Added some subtle blending between some animations.

This mod aims to solve two minor problems related to pip-boy.

  • Weapon position after switching weapons in pipboy. You may have noticed that the raise animation after equipping a weapon sometimes flickers in some weird places. If you watch what's going on in slow motion, the weapons actually come from all directions. Sometimes underneath you, sometimes on top, and sometimes even behind your head! Note that this will only happen if you have something else equipped before opening pipboy.
  • Sudden FOV adjustment when pipboy is wearing power armor, albeit small. This happens because when in power armor and in first person, the game slightly lowers your FOV almost all the time (so it has a very small magnification effect). However, when you open pipboy, the fov changes are reverted. Finally, when you turn off the pipboy, the FOV reduction comes back after a moment, creating a slightly jarring visual moment.

This mod removes the FOV reduction of power armor. The change is almost negligible (I bet many people didn't even notice it was there in the first place) other than making the popup disappear! Video below:

May cause compatibility issues with mods that change first-person GunBehavior.hkx and MeleeBehavior.hkx. Surprisingly, most mods that change behavior only change the third person, so there should be no conflict. If so, please let me know and I'll make a patch.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
