(formerly known as Vault-Tec Workshop Lighting Fix)

What does this mod do?

This mod started out as a simple recreation of some of the lighting features from the original Vault-Tec workshop overhaul. As time went by I decided to bring in more old features and introduce new ones.

VTVOR in its current state addresses three major lighting issues in the Vault-Tec Workshop DLC; brightness, lighting node position, and a bug that caused lights to appear as if they were turned off. It also fixes some minor texture and quality of life issues (see Features), enhances architectural effects using Vault lights, and allows you to snap lights onto some architectural parts.

Features:

Lighting

Fixed a lighting bug that caused lit lights to go out.

Lights now cast light from the correct light source (see screenshot).

Light sources now have the same values as those in existing shelters such as Vault 81 and Vault 88 entrances (see screenshot).

The lights are now spotlights instead of omnidirectional. This effectively eliminates the penetration of light through the wall.

Comes with three lighting "presets" including [LOW], [HIGH] and [ULTRA] lights. See the performance section for details.

Added new rotating spotlight.

Add curved sconces seen in other shelters.

Electricity

Vault Power Conduit has doubled in scope.

Bridge building components now carry energy like other shelter components.

Capture point

The sconce is now attached to the wall. Work in progress; not all parts have snap points.

Ceiling lights can now be attached to the ceiling. Again, this is a work in progress. Not all parts have snap points.

The glowing Sanctuary sign now snaps above the doorway.

The Overseer's Desk now aligns with the Overseer's Room fragments.

Miscellaneous

All shelter "rooms" (except for the Overseer set) now come from a set of grids, rather than having a separate grid for each room. This allows for smaller file sizes and a simplified update process. It also keeps each piece looking consistent from the outside.

Crates can be stacked on top of each other.

Adds buildable "shortcuts" to the Workshop's inventory. It's under Furniture > Containers.

Will there be compatibility issues with this mod?

This mod alters 10 lights, 15 doorway signs, and 124 building parts from the Vault-Tec workshop. If any of these components have been changed by other mods, then yes; there will be problems. However, this mod does address three issues that have been addressed individually, so this is all you need.

Known incompatibilities

Vanilla Extensions for Ethreon - Conflicts with snaps on some building parts.

Workshop rearranged by d81 - Conflict with snapping and positioning of building parts in menu

Will this mod cause performance issues?

This mod comes with three flavors of lights; [Low], [High] and [Ultra]. Your standard default vault lights have been replaced with a [LOW] setting, so any lights you placed before installing this mod will be set to [LOW]. These lights cast no shadows and have no lens flare.

Next up is the [HIGH] episode. These lights are a big upgrade from [LOW] as they cast shadows and create lens fla …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
