Preface: Far Harbor Nuclear World DLC
Ammunition expansion items:
This is the first module I (original author Octavia357, the same below) has ever made, and it is also the first in a series of weapon modules I plan to make. The V.I.A. series of mods is planned to incorporate new legend-friendly weapons designed and manufactured by the V.I.A. Corporation (a company in a similar niche to Gun Runners) after the war.
The V2261 Secretary Revolver (or V61 for short) is a double-action revolver with an 8-round rotating cylinder. It's visually inspired by the Colt Patterson revolver, but doesn't represent any real-world gun at all.
It's called the V61 because the V stands for the fictional company that made it and 2261 was originally built. It was named the Secretary's Revolver after Secretary Byrd.
This gun will be added to the level list via script, so it won't conflict with other mods, and will start spawning on vendors, enemies, and some allied factions at level 15-20, and will continue to spawn throughout the rest of the game. It should spawn mostly on gunners.
This gun uses .357 Magnum and therefore requires ammo expansion items.
2 unique weapon variants have been added to the game, one of which is obtained after a short side mission. If you want to know where to find them, keep reading this paragraph, if you don't want to know, skip to the next paragraph. A unique "General's Secretary" can be found next to Clint Terminal in Quincy, and another, the "Sagittarius serpentarius", can be obtained by completing its quest line. This quest line starts immediately after you enter the backstreet clothing store (near Executioner Alley, where the kidnapping branch is often picked up).
This mod comes with custom sounds and animations. The above animation is from (TheRizzler1's Hunting Revolver and Ranger Sequoia mod, it's really good and you probably have it, but if you don't you should get it because it's really good haha).
I think that's it, this is my first mod so please be nice, I know it's not perfect but I personally think it's not bad.
Some minor notes, there is some mold punching in the reload animation, but it is what it is, and the textures aren't the best and look weird when inspecting the gun in the pip boy menu.
But yeah, that's about it :)
Shout out to Dak's Discord for helping me throughout the modding process, JKruse, Seddon, Dak, KingGath, and TheRizzler for their tutorials which were all very helpful in learning how to do this, and TheRizzler for once again allowing me to use animations.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
