Unmodded Save Unmodified archive

This is a save game without using any kind of mods, just picking up Vault 111

PIP Boy previously saved. Why save before picking up PIP Boy? Many mod authors use this event to trigger the start of their mods. This way you can still start those mods clearly. Other authors will trigger their mods when you first leave the vault. Of course, this will happen with this save. Some authors trigger their mods when you start a new game. If I had gone back that far, it wouldn't have been a fast start. (Plus those mods will usually launch when the game is loaded after the mod is enabled.)

I collected everything that was collected in the vault (several 10MM, several batons, several clean vault sets, spouse's wedding ring, bobby pins, over 100 rounds of ammo, game holographic tape, glasses, a bunch of scraps). You can change your character's appearance, special point allocation, and name when leaving the vault as usual. In fact, I would recommend it. I just used the standard preset because I didn't load the Looksmenu because, you know, the purpose was to save with NO mods.

This is perfect for starting a new game after changing mods, I seem to do a lot and get tired of running Vault 111 over and over again. I also like this better than the quickstart mod because it adds nothing to my load order (I have a lot of mods loaded) and there's absolutely no chance of any conflicts with this.

Just thought I'd share since disabling everything to do this is a pain. Anyway, I'm rebuilding my load order from scratch and thought of doing this first.

Require:

Fallout 4, this won't work properly without it.

When I made this save, I did have all the DLC loaded. If you don't have all the DLC loaded, you can still use it. When you get a warning message about missing DLC, just click OK. It shouldn't hurt anything.

conflict:

I don't know that this could conflict with anything. If anything conflicts with this, it will conflict with the game itself.

Install:

  • Download files manually.
  • Unzip the file.
  • Place the unzipped files in the save game folder. This is usually Documents\My Games\Fallout4\Saving.
  • Launch the game and load the game called Unmodded Save Ilya.
  • Pick up the PIP Boy and watch the messages scroll.
  • Enjoy.

grateful:

All the modifications you make there make our gaming experience better.

Since I didn't buy a Bethesda game until all the DLC was out (learned this lesson with Morrowind), I had never played Fallout 4 before that. Never seen standard UI, standard character creation and standard graphics. It's a bit shocking to see the game unmodified.

This is a save game with NO mods of any type in use, saved just before picking up the PIP Boy in Vault 111.

I collected everything there is to collect in the vault (couple of 10MMs, couple of batons, couple of clean vault suits, spouse's wedding ring, bobby pin, over 100 rounds of ammo, game holo tape, eyeglasses, bunch of scrap). You get to change your character's looks, SPECIAL point assignment, and name when leaving the vault like always. In fact I would recommend that. I just used a standard preset as I didn't have Looksmenu loaded, because, you know, the purpose was to have a save with NO mods.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
