About this mod Machine translation

  • introduce -

You may have noticed that your farm stopped producing food, your array of 20 industrial water purifiers stopped producing water, or your settlers stopped collecting scrap unless you emptied your workbench regularly.

In vanilla game:

If the total amount of food in the workbench (where food is any item with the ObjectTypeFood keyword, see image) exceeds 10 + settler count, the crop stops producing food.

If the total amount of water (purified water, sewage and potions from HalluciGen) exceeds 5 + 0.25 * settler count, the water pump and purifier stop producing excess purified water.

Unassigned settlers and settlers assigned to scrap stations stop producing scrap if the total scrap exceeds 100 + 5 * number of settlers. A single scrap unit is defined as any component, or any item that can be deconstructed into components (all trash). Yes, this means that even if you only remove six trees and leave the wood on the workbench, your settlers will decide they're done and never clean up again.

Fertilizer production only applies to the first 3 Brahmins of the settlement, any more have no effect.

Suppliers can produce up to 50 caps per day per settlement day.

Annoyingly, this behavior is intentional.

This model removes these limitations: farmers continue to produce excess food, water purifiers continue to produce water, and so on, even if you're not around to take care of them.

  • Configuration -

As of v1.2, Uncapped Settlement Surplus includes a configuration holotape that will be automatically added to your inventory. All configurable features can be controlled through this holotape. These are:

Functions switch to food, water, waste, fertilizer and bottle caps. Disabling these will revert the behavior to vanilla per resource. (Default: enabled)

Configurable caps for food, water and waste (default: unlimited)

Attack reducer settings, such as - reducer -

Reset utility, which resets all mod's active scripts (used after installing the settlement mod)

An uninstall utility that turns off all active scripts and makes the mod (so to speak) safe to uninstall

Please note that for technical reasons, like other mods (e.g. settlement management software), this holotape must be loaded into any physical terminal that accepts holotape for full functionality. However, Pip-Boy still offers some limited functionality.

  • Reducer -

In the vanilla game, food and water items stored in a crafting table increase the likelihood of random attacks occurring in that settlement. Stocking up on units with enough food and water - about 1000 food and/or water items with 0 defense (10 more items per defense point) - can increase this possibility to 100%. There is a built-in limit to only one attack per settlement per week, but this frequency is still high enough that with enough developed settlements, and enough surplus, one or more settlements will eventually start suffering attacks on a single day, like clockwork.

To mitigate this problem, I came up with a system to reduce this frequency so that a well-defended solution isn't always attacked every week after this curve.

This feature is enabled by default and I think these settings are reasonable for normal gameplay.

As of v1.4.1, there is an additional option to completely disable random attacks when enabled.

  • Attack Reducer (Advanced) -

The "difficulty" of this feature can also be customized using holotape; the curve (above) is roughly controlled by the following formula:

floor(max(7,(x^a+sqrt(x)))

where x is the defense and a is a configurable exponent. The default (normal) value of a is 0.65, easy is 0.74, and hard is 0.5.

If this value is set to 0, an option is available to remove the 1 week limit between attacks, and additional options can be enabled to actively trigger attacks at each settlement each day.

  • compatibility -

This mod does not edit any base records or scripts*, nor should it conflict with any scripts or most edits to base records applied by other mods.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
