About this mod Machine translation
Abduction has been replaced by AbductionLite
AbductionLite started as a personal mini-module for a new game and gradually grew with tweaks, fixes and some new features, so I decided to clean it up and release it as a replacement. The reason for this decision is that Abduction was developed very early in my "career" so it uses a less optimized approach to what it does and the large number of features makes it easy for me to figure out what time I could be modding now.
Disclaimer - This mod provides no guarantees or guarantees regarding safety or functionality. Be sure to read this description before deciding to use it, and don't run it in a super critical situation unless you don't have a backup or expect the mod to uninstall immediately or down the road without issue. Taking a few minutes to test different features to make sure it works with your load order before you spend any time playing is highly recommended.
Differences from kidnapping
No editing of NPCs required - removes risk of conflict and the ability to kidnap almost anyone
No DLC required - works with any version
The kidnapping collar has been removed - the strap on top has been replaced with a non-DLC asset - "DNA Sequencer"
No Kidnapping and Restricted Movements - NPCs are now captured by placing a DNA sequencer into their inventory. Can now be captured using any mode or method that provides access to the NPC's inventory, such as reverse pickpocketing or Knockout frames.
The knockdown spell has been removed - no longer needed. For those who still want to kidnap NPCs in a vulnerable state, "Easy Kidnapping" mode will allow instant cloning of sleeping, bleeding, restrained or paralyzed targets
Holotape menu removed - an MCM interface added, the slow and clunky terminal interface is finally gone
Perk Toggles - Added Hotkey support to easily make actions appear only when needed, minimizing conflicts with other perks and modes
Improved Voice Management - NPCs detected as settlement vendors, doctors, or radiation mission targets will automatically be assigned compatible voices. No more staring in silence at the “conversation.”
Improved maintenance - now fully event- and on-demand driven, making it nearly instantaneous and very resource-friendly.
Custom gear system redesigned - now only supports one variant, but it should now work better with weapons
If there's a feature present in Kidnapping that isn't mentioned above, it's probably not included in this version, it's Lite after all.
MCM menu options
Simple Kidnapping - Vulnerable NPCs can be kidnapped instantly
Count as residents - if abductees should count towards population limit or not (not sure if that works)
Self-sufficiency - abductees provide themselves with safety, water and food
24/7 job - work around the clock, no sleep (not sure if this is working properly)
Match Resistance - The abductee will match the player's resistance regardless of what they are wearing. If set as a guard or follower, makes them more resistant.
Summon Unassigned - Summons everyone who is not assigned to a studio to your location. This is useful if you want to quickly get a batch of new clones to a new settlement.
Call All - Summons everyone.
Set Home - Allows you to assign a single NPC to the settlement, after which everyone will be assigned to it.
Forced Maintenance - triggers an update for everyone, useful for updating any abductees in the area with new gear
Perk Toggle - Adds or removes the AbductionLite perk, when removing all NPC interaction is disabled.
Auto Hide Perk - Disable this during combat to prevent accidental menu triggers or dismiss/recruit any NPCs that step into your crosshairs
Edit Rig - When enabled, everything on your rig will be registered in the list as a custom rig. Unnoticing an item removes it from it. If you're happy with the look, disable it to "Lock Outfit".
Enable Gear - When activated, any NPC will be equipped with custom gear. Make sure you create one with "Edit Outfit" first, otherwise they will be n …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
