About this mod Machine translation
What does this mod do?
This mod allows you to quickly switch to weapon sights when in third person. If you like playing third person but also want the precision of a weapon scope in certain situations, this mod is for you.
How to use
By default, to enter weapon sights, you have to right-click (or whatever button you use for aiming) twice. If you want your weapon sights to be entered every time you aim, then you can use settings holotape to change it. It should be added to the inventory upon installation and can also be processed at the Chemistry Station.
Install/Uninstall
This mod requires F4SE!
EDIT: Due to the issues people mentioned about F04 v1.9 and 1.10 and old and new versions of F4SE (this version was made with the latest versions of 1.10 and 0.5.0), I made a version that shouldn't require F4SE and should work for both versions of FO, but you can't change between one or two click ADS (it will be in the double click option so you can still quickly switch ADS when in 3rd person)
Install via NMM or drag and drop files into the fallout data directory. Complete the uninstallation by deleting the same files.
Known issues
The third person camera can finally use the closest third person zoom when using double tap ADS. If you find it's a little too close for your liking you can increase the minimum distance of the player camera by adjusting (or adding) the "fVanityModeMinDist" setting in the Fallout4Custom.ini file, so that you get a line like this:
[camera]
fVanityModeMinDist = 200
fVanityModeMaxDist = 400
Try setting the minimum value between 150 and 400 (the higher the value, the greater the shrinkage). Also, make sure your fVanityModeMaxDist value is greater than or equal to the min dist value. You can test certain values in the game by typing in the console
setini“fVanityModeMinDist:camera”200
Replace the value of 200 with any value you want. The console command mode is reset after exiting the game, so you must eventually save it to an ini file if you want to keep it.
If a mod stops working in game, there is a setting in the holotape options that allows you to reload the mod. Alternatively, you can enter "help thirdpersonads_quest 0" in the console. Use the reference it provides and enter "setstage XXXXXXXX 20".
footnote:
Yes I know there are other mods that do this, but I made my own version because others didn't have the ability to quickly switch between standard 3rd person targeting and weapon targeting.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
