About this mod Machine translation

The Wasteland Codex is a mode that lets you hear the voice of a "Storyteller" as you travel the wasteland, unlocking the Fallout Universe's in-game database one by one.

Wasteland Codex v9.157 contains the complete "Orcs", "Chemical Weapons", "Humanitarian", "Human Strength Armor", "Pre-War Companies", "Robots", "Vehicles and Weapons" sections from the lore book.

Looking forward to this mod continuing to expand with other content for a long time!

You unlock these killer entries by playing the game as usual - kill enemies, visit locations, and meet new friends.

Unlocked codex articles are divided into categories and can be accessed through the holotape of the Wasteland Codex, which provides valuable information, images, and expert narration by The Storyteller themselves.

Using the autoplay feature, you can even listen to new articles without opening the Codex.

Starting with v8.132, you can try the Recently Unlocked Entries hotkey feature to quickly play recently unlocked Codex articles that you haven't heard yet.

Before installing the latest version, make sure to delete any old versions prior to 6.082!

UNINSTALLING

This mod's event registrations and timers are bound to the Quest, which should be removed from the savegame when you disable the mod. This means your save games are safe and you can continue playing if you decide to uninstall The Wasteland Codex. However, the safest way to uninstall is to use holotape's uninstall feature or the MCM menu to completely disable running scripts before removing the mod.

After installing the mod, you will receive an inventory hologram called the Wasteland Codex. Knowledge databases for all categories as well as mod settings can be accessed through this holotape.

You can choose to make this holotape at the Chemistry Station as a utility tool.

set up

Autoplay: Automatically start playing new Wasteland Codex entries without opening holotape.

Hotkeys for Recently Unlocked Entries: Displays hotkeys for a menu of recently unlocked codex entries, allowing you to start playing any of them.

Reset All Entries: Reset the mod to its default state, all codex entries in the Wasteland Codex holotape will be hidden and must be unlocked again.

Uninstall: Uninstall Wasteland Codex from your save game, clearing all active registrations and canceling all timers. If you want to disable the mod and continue playing the game without the Wasteland Codex, you should do so.

Alternatively, compatibility with the Mod Configuration Menu (MCM) is optional. If you are using MCM, you should find the Wasteland Codex settings under Mod Config from the pause menu. The settings are still available from holotape.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
