About this mod Machine translation

narrative description

Huntress Manor is hidden in the woods of Huntress Island, shrouded in fog. Once the home of the reclusive but brilliant Professor R.S.G. Hunter, the estate has been abandoned since its sudden, unexplained death in 1877; now known only to the wolves who call the forest its name. Little do they know, the manor holds a terrible secret.

Back on the plank in Far Harbor, a ghoul adventurer named Ronald arrives with a locked wooden chest. He tried to shoot it, blast it, and get it picked by the best locksmiths in the land, but nothing could open it. Now drawn to the island through a 19th-century letter describing a "locked box," he believes the secret to unlocking the box can be found in the halls of Huntress Manor. Not being a skilled fighter, Ronald seeks a second party to help him unlock the secrets of Huntress' estate. But maybe some secrets are better forgotten...

This mod will expand upon existing lore in the Fallout universe surrounding "Ug-Qualtoth," references that can be found in Fallout 3's Dunwich Building and Fallout 4's Dunwich Borers. This mod will add several hours of new content that will take you to the island.

Install and start the mod

(Potential spoilers if you haven't played the Far Harbor DLC yet)

If you didn't disable the Mist Condenser during the DLC, you can find Ronald in Far Harbor. You can still play the mod if you've destroyed Far Harbor, in which case Ronald can be found in a small camp east of Nucleus. You must have at least experienced the first conversation with Avery and then been directed to speak with Longfellow before you can get started.

A rare bug means I need to edit a scene in this mod. Sometimes the scene after the "Survive" objective will be skipped and the mod will not be playable. File 1.1a is used in this case, but you should try using regular 1.1 first, in most cases 1.1a is not required. 1.1a allows scenes to be played by talking to Dunwich instead of autoplaying. However, sometimes the game does not detect changes made to the scene without creating a clean save and reinstalling the mod. It's annoying, but since I can't replicate the error, this is my best solution.

Main features

  • Ten main missions, but you can only play nine of them in one game; the final mission depends on who you last with.
  • After the main story is completed, six types of Fallout missions are available, but you only have access to the four-in-one game.
  • Ronald can be both a follower and a unique settler. He's not a commandable minion, although that means you can have him with vanilla companions.
  • Explore the estate. As you progress into the mod's story, more parts of Huntress Manor will become available to you. As you explore, you can discover more of the life of the reclusive Professor Hunter.
  • Multiple endings. The mod has two main endings, each with a different set of Fallout missions, plus an additional bonus as a reward.
  • The mod has some small puzzle elements. If you get stuck, talk to Ronald. If you ask him, he will give you hints on how to solve the puzzle

He will give you the solution.

main file

There are three main documents. 1.2 is the base version of the mod, including the questline from start to finish, which is the default Mod Manager file. 1.1a is a file you should download and replace with your main file, this will allow you to talk to Dunwich to advance the mission if the scene doesn't play after the "Survive" objective is completed, and then you can switch back to using the regular file. File 1.5 adds a little extra at the end that if you finish with Ug-Qualtoth at the end of the mod and complete enough radiant missions to reach half "loyalty", Ug-Qualtoth will "fulfill his promise" that he is in the ritual chamber.

Spoiler: Show

It also now provides the Blessing of Ug-Qualtoth in the form of a unique weapon instead of a combat effect spell perk. this will keep

Compatibility with vanilla perks and future mods I'm working on

Optional files

I've also included an option …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
