About this mod Machine translation
This little mod adds a Manhunt/Metal Gear solid bait system to Fallout 4. Lets you distract and lure enemies by whistling or throwing bolts on the ground to create noise and attract them to specific locations. I made this mod for myself for stealth gameplay in Frost and decided to share it.
This mod gives you a tactical advantage in the dark and is quite nice with Registrators taking cover mods.
To be clear, in vanilla, if you fired a weapon, swung a weapon, or made any noise, enemies would tend to magically spot you, whether you left the area or were hidden, etc. This mod allows you to lure enemies to specific areas. When you whistle for them (or wherever your bolt lands), NPCs will search the area you're in, allowing you to run and hide, lure them out into the open and pick them up.
Whistle Aid items are added to your inventory by default. Love it and use it to whistle. Work in first or third person. If you want hotkeys, use FO4 Hotkeys (another great mod for Registrator). Bolts can be crafted at the Chemical Station. You need steel. Feel free to change this if you want FO4edit etc.
The mod is very simple but works very well. Enemies won't find you right away, if you whistle they will search where you were last, or where the bolts landed if you throw them away, so get out of there quickly and you can lure them out very effectively. NPCs are not stupid (well, not stupid and not vanilla haha) they don't automatically come out in public, they search, hide under covers, peaks, etc. Keep in mind that they will also ignore you if they are in the middle of a fire or distracted by something else.
Bolts occasionally get caught in the ground. I couldn't help it, I was doing my best on the collision and not bolting from Bethesdas horrible ground collision. What can you do.
The whistle effect is not very good. I feel like we could have done about ten thousand times better haha.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
