About this mod Machine translation
Have you ever felt silly walking around with your character? Even the clunky animations make you feel like a complete idiot at times?
I mean...whose goal is that?
Well..not anymore!
This mod lets you use the NPC third person animations you see them using, giving you a more tactical move when equipping your weapon.
This was originally made by L0rdOfWar, but it was in his B-90 mod (which I totally recommend) in the optional files section... which doesn't give it the justice it deserves. This modification should be a complete standalone mod, and since it does so much for immersion, it should be a must-have mod. So, it's an honor for him. This upload is to give it the praise it deserves first.
I also managed to fix some issues and improve the original mod.
Install
First: you need to add the line "bApplyCameraNodeAnimations = 0" under [Camera], edit the Fallout4.ini file in the document (without the "" mark). If you don't have a [camera], don't worry. Just add it!
Also, if you don't want a centered camera, you may want to set the [Camera] settings as follows:
[camera]
f3rdPersonAimFOV = 70.0000
fVanityModeMaxDist = 300.0000
fVanityModeMinDist = 85.0000
fPitchZoomOutMaxDist = 000.0000
fMinCurrentZoom = 0.0000
fMouseWheelZoomSpeed = 1.0000
fMouseWheelZoomIncrement = 0.2000
f3rdPersonPowerArmorCameraAdjust = 30.0000
fOverShoulderMeleeCombatAddY = 0.0000
fOverShoulderMeleeCombatPosZ = 0.0000
fOverShoulderMeleeCombatPosX = 30.0000
fOverShoulderCombatAddY = 0.0000
fOverShoulderCombatPosZ = 0.0000
fOverShoulderCombatPosX = 30.0000
fOverShoulderPosZ = 0.0000
fOverShoulderPosX = 30.0000
bApplyCameraNodeAnimations = 0
Remember: when you install a new version, remember to remove the old version first.
Thanks to Hodilton for the comparison video. Look at this! (A 3.2 update comparison of the new pistol targets is lacking.)
This is MOAAAAAR! Thank you all, thank you!
Automatic: NMM
Manual: Download the rar, then unzip and place the files into the Fallout4/Data folder. If overwriting is required, do so when prompted. (It should override anything unless you have another mod installed that changes these animations (check compatibility below)
Uninstall: Use NMM to uninstall automatically, or just delete manually installed files. Nothing will be broken.
compatibility
Compatible with all mods except changing 3rd person animation. This means that this is fully compatible with idle animations (like idle hands - male and female), but not compatible with mods like Alternate 3rd Person Animation. I hope the difference is clear. This mod doesn't break anything or mess with any other interactions with objects or anything else.
Due to the way the animation plays, some animations will slow down the character by 5-10%. No big deal, it actually looks better and more immersive, and the original animations make you feel like a cheetah while sprinting anyway.
The optional stealth animation works fine, except the camera isn't adjusted, meaning it'll act like you're standing up instead of lowering while crouching... There's nothing we can do about it right now, but it's optional.
SMG reload animation bugged since Vanilla. NPC animations have no reload sound and cannot be fixed without animation tools. That's why I didn't change the SMG animation and let it use the vanilla default animation, so you can still hear the reload sound, but your character will stay in the normal pose when reloading, and then go back to Tactical.
The hunting rifle reloading animation also has sound issues, with the first step of reloading having no sound, and the same goes for bolt handling. I decided to keep this animation because it's not that bad.
DOUBLEBARREL SHOTGUN and HUNTING RIFLE had weird times holding animations in sneaky mode, so I gave them back to vanilla. When they stand in Ready-stance they point downward, but in stealth mode they stand correctly in the center. Tbh, this looks pretty good this way, since you're not aiming a sniper rifle for hip-hop shots, and the …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
