Terrain Base - 2 million occlusions by Sheson and AetherSeraph9 Fixed issues with light passing through terrain. Please download their fix!

(Also, I recommend that you disable Sunlight Fade entirely in my mod, as that's just a workaround for an issue that looks bad and affects performance.

There's a new version: version 2!

In this version you can use

Mod configuration menu to customize a variety of options including sunlight fade times and the minimum angle at which world lighting is rendered!

You must follow the UNINSTALL instructions below to completely uninstall the previous version, create a "clean save", and then install the latest version.

Older versions of the mod can still be found in the Downloads section, titled: "Sunlight Alignment Tweak - Classic"

There's also a barebones version that's identical to the PS4 version: "Sunlight Alignment Tweak - Basic"

This version only contains alignment adjustments and does not require any DLC, MCM or F4SE.

describe

Aligns the outside world lighting with the sun and moon and allows the game to cast shadows at a shallower angle. Includes a script to automatically reduce shadow intensity at sunrise and sunset for a more realistic environment.

This mod basically does for Fallout 4 what this mod does for Skyrim/SSE.

Prerequisites

The latest version requires F4SE and MCM if you want to customize the settings.

The classic version of the mod only requires the Far Harbor and Nuka World DLC and nothing else.

The Basic version only requires the Basic game.

Install

Simply download and install using the mod manager of your choice.

Place SunLightAlignment.esp as low as possible in the load order, even below your weather mod.

uninstall

  • Enter the interior space and wait at least one minute of actual time.
  • Save and exit. Then use your mod manager to uninstall the mod.
  • Complete and continue the game.

WARNING Unfortunately,

~~Unlike Skyrim, solar lighting in Fallout 4 is not obscured by mountains and terrain, so there may be areas where the divine light will shine through hills and mountains. ~~

~~In fact, the main reason for having a script that reduces the intensity of shadows at dawn and dusk is to eliminate the visual glitch of shadows cast from objects when the sun is behind hills or mountains. ~~

~~Still, clippings are barely noticeable in most weather unless you are actively looking for it. ~~

Terrain Undersides - Sheson's 2 mil light block solves that problem! Please download their files!

enjoy!

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
