Starlight Drive-in Trading hub and settlement
For this game I decided to try to craft settlements using things they could reasonably access. This is not an exact or perfect science. More feel and flavor.
Vehicles were used to create a barricade on one side of the adjacent road. On the other side, it's more stakes and spikes.
I tend to use Starlight as a trading center and have many settled travelers traveling to and from this central NW location. I have a specific area set up for the caravan of NPCs to gather. There is also a collection of mini high street feel shops to allocate settler suppliers. These areas are located on the south side of the building area, in line with the main entrance.
On the north side there is a walled settlement area, accessible from the west, south and east. This area I wanted to make it feel like a mini town. The buildings are very close. Imperfect lining up. I want it to look different from different angles. I want to create a feeling around the next corner?
This is my first time uploading anything to . Hope I got it right. Blame my girlfriend. She loves what I've built into the game, and with this amazing Transfer Settlements mod, I've found that I can share it with her. It's very cool to watch her wander through my creations in her games. Sharing hope with others feels cooler.
There are many mods listed in the Required section. Those relating to the structure of which I have spoken are obviously indispensable. Those more suitable for decoration may not be so much. I like all the mods listed. They really offer all the options you need to make something like this. I have no issues or conflicts with them. But I did manually override Loot's loading order by ensuring that all Workshop rearranged related entries were lower than all other Workshop models.
Steps to achieve the full effect of this settlement.
- Get the mod you need
- If the area has not been cleared of original assets - clear all vehicles, lamp posts, moles and their tunnels if they are still there. You don't have to clear out the speakers, but you may need to move a pair after transferring them.
The reason this preliminary work needed to be done is because I took the original vehicles and used them to form part of the barricade. If you don't move them, they will still be there when you transfer, even if you use the nuke option.
Also, depending on the environment mode you're running in, you may need to do some arboristing and move a tree or two. I use all seasons and had a tree in my laundry room that I had to manually move to get better water flow around town.
- IMPORTANT NOTE: When you use the Transfer Settlement Holotape import feature, make sure to check the box to import the original project (not built by the player). If you don't, half the roadblock will be missing because of what I said in #2 above.
- You may also want to select the import option to import tag-based projects. This will allow for the creation of markers that I put down for each caravan and its escort.
- After the transfer you will find some duplicate things, such as the bumped green trash can and the bumped bollard. No big deal, just delete the original ones or put them somewhere else.
- Please note that my taste in "art" is a personal choice. You certainly don't need the relevant mods. What you may see in the images are replacements and therefore don't have the same mod settings as if you had the same picture.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
