This mod brings the iconic weapons of the Star Wars series to the Commonwealth. Ladies and gentlemen, lightsabers!
*confetti, noisemakers, applause, cat screams*
Well, yes. Anyway, as mentioned before, this mod brings lightsabers into Fallout 4. Now, I know what you're going to say: "But DMMagnuuss, there's already a lightsaber mod in there!" Yes, there is, and it's cool, but for me it doesn't hit the right note in terms of visuals and plasticity. Since the lightsaber model I wanted didn't exist, I moved beyond that and now after 2 months of work, here we are. The mod is packed with custom meshes, sounds, textures and even impact effects!
So, here's the skinny: to even start using the weapon, you need to put your glove on the hilt. You can craft it at the Chemistry Station, under the LIGHTSABER category, which requires Science 3 to do so, or work with Virgil's lab in the Glowing Sea to get the one he has. It is worth noting, however, that in both cases the handle is inert. In order to make it a fully functional lightsaber, you need to take it to the chemistry lab again to activate it. Light systems are also used on Synths and Synth Coursers, but they are a bit less common.
Once you have one working, you can modify that sucker. The lightsaber is extensively customizable, with the option to choose from not three, not four, but seventeen blade colors.
The colors you can choose from are:
red
deep red
blue
blue white
dark blue
green
blue
sky blue
orange
Purple
indigo
magenta
pink
yellow
Yellow-green
White
amber
On the basis of color, you can also choose the length of the blade, choosing from 4: standard length, long, short or small, with the small size offering the shortest range. Sliced bread is also great. Starting with version 2.0, you can also make the blade precise or compressed, which will make the blade slimmer and increase the sword's critical hit damage. With the single controller, you can also change up your attacks so you can make massive slashes at your enemies or create it so you can push and slide with whichever guy decides to pick the weapon. An energy sword. Ah, but that's not all. On top of the color and blade length, you can choose to make the blade unstable. Unstable blades come in a variety of colors and lengths, and deal extra energy damage because they aren't restrained. There is a visual difference, as the unstable blade will have a ripple glow. You can lighten the blade in any color you want, whether or not it actually matches the color of the blade.
The customization doesn't end here, no sir. You still have 7 hilts (even more!) to choose from!
(Click here for a good up-close look. Please note that the picture does not reflect what hilts will look like in-game.)
The three on the left are my own designs, while the four on the right are from the original trilogy. What's available now will change in the future as I plan to add more hilts offline. These hilts come in both one-handed and two-handed versions, so you can choose to give the fool a nice two-handed bang or a one-handed buzz with your new toy. This also leads to the next step of customization, which is the sound.
In addition to everything else I mentioned, you can also change the sound of the lightsaber. Buzz, ignition, contraction and swing sounds can all be changed to suit your needs. Some hilts will change the sound, but they won't stop you from changing them if you think it sounds different. What cannot be changed are the impact sounds, as they are related to the impact effect, but the sounds will vary depending on whether you are walking through walls/armor, or holding a sword into the Raider's chest.
Now, this is all great, but "how do I do all this?" you ask? Great question, Billy! Unstable and normal blades require crystals. Normal blades require refined crystals, while unstable blades require broken crystals, and precision/compression blades require compressed crystals, which require refined crystals. All th …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
