about Us:

This started as a weekend project to try out an idea I had for myself. Some mods add bunk beds to settlements and provide 2 beds to settlements. However, they can only be assigned to one settler. Some mods solve this problem by making all beds static and adding pillows that act as beds. I want to try another method, use an empty bed frame and put a mattress on top.

Under Furniture, I added a new category SnapBeds. Inside, you'll find the frame and mattress. Build a frame and snap into place the mattress. You can mix and match. You can let the settlers do their own distribution, or you can do it yourself. Targeting some mattresses is a little trickier as it also requires selecting a frame. The bed frames will also be aligned end to end and left to right, allowing you to arrange them easily.

There are currently three types of mattresses that support children. Children will not be prorated if allocated these mattresses. Check the description in workshop mode.

Please note that not all mattresses fit all frames. I tried to make sure there were enough small mattresses to accommodate variety. There may be odd clippings and settlers may crawl through the frame into the bed, but they will use them. Just try different combinations. :)

This mod includes Clean Beds from dgulat and Comfortable Beds from LupusYondergirl. These are available in a variety of frame and mattress options in different colors. You don’t have to install Clean Beds or Cozy Beds. If you don't want to use these texture changes, you can craft a chem in the chem station under Utility which will turn them off and hide them from the workshop menu.

compatibility:

Should be compatible with everything.

uninstall:

Before uninstalling SnapBed, make a "SnapBeds Menu Toggle" and use it. This will remove SnapBeds from the workshop menu. You can use it again to put it back in its place.

About “Sheltered” Bunk Beds:

Depending on where you build your bunk bed frame, the top bunk may not be "covered." It seems to take into account the height of the roof above the mattress and if the mattress is too close it won't be obscured. Try to make sure there is a high roof above the bunk bed, or that it is on a lower level of the structure.

Alternatively, try ShelteredBeds, a little mod I created that forces the studio to believe that all beds are sheltered.

Assign children to beds:

I provide this information "as is" and I take no responsibility if it causes strange effects on your game. Need a new bed for your child? Workshop mode doesn't allow you?

Open the console and select the subkey.

Type: cf setCommandable 1

Close the console.

Open workshop mode.

Assign children to beds.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
