Smooth region loading

Smoother federal exploration and reduced unit loading lags

This mod was assisted by Codex. If you're reading this, you're smart. Don't tell anyone.

What this module does:

Fallout 4 can cause noticeable lag when entering new cells, especially in crowded areas like cities.

When loading a unit, the game queues up a large number of NPC, weapon and animation resources one by one. This can cause sudden CPU and scheduling spikes as the game prepares new regions.

Smooth unit loading reduces these bursts by batching the resource queue as the unit loads, allowing the game to handle requests more smoothly.

The goal is simple: reduce lag when entering new areas and make the overall exploration experience smoother.

Features

**Reduce unit transition lag**

Help reduce sudden lag when entering a new loading unit.

**Especially suitable for busy areas,**

This effect is most noticeable in cities and other areas where a large number of NPCs and objects are loaded at the same time.

**Weapon and Animation Mod Friendly**

This mod is suitable for a large number of mod configurations and includes the addition of a large number of weapons and animations.

**NO GAMEPLAY CHANGES**, NPCs, weapons, animations, quests, and world content all remain the same.

**Lightweight engine level fix**

The mod runs via the F4SE plugin and does not add scripts, ESP files or new game assets.

You don't need to activate or do anything, really.

Install

Use your preferred mod manager to install the version that matches your Fallout 4 runtime.

Available versions include:

Fallout 4 1.10.163 (Original) Fallout

4 1.11.221(AE)

Compatible with weapon sprite accelerator - F4SE

Supports faster cell lookup, cell offset generator

Performance Notes

This mod provides significant optimizations by solving one of the main causes of unit load stuttering. Stuttering can still be caused by things like textures, meshes, or other assets, but the specific issue demonstrated in the video has been eliminated.

uninstall

The mod can be disabled or uninstalled at any time via your mod manager.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
