Support and discussion site
There are now dedicated sites and forums for SimSettlements and Add-Ons. I'll move things to those forums. For now, I'll examine two general issues with the conversion process, but you should pay attention to bug reports and feature suggestions.
Industrial City - SimSettlements Forum
General instructions
An add-on for Sim Settlements that adds new industrial plots to the rotation.
However, these maps provide specific resources based on buildings and plots (a metal scrap yard provides metal salvage, a lumber yard provides wood salvage, etc.) rather than adding to a general scavenging score.
This add-on will focus primarily on the industry plot, but if you have ideas for a new shop/home/farm that would fit an industrial theme, please let me know and I'll see what I can do.
Please make sure to back up your save files before activating this mod, it's still in its early stages. While Sim Settlement add-ons are generally very stable, this add-on uses more scripts and averages to handle daily updates. Testing so far hasn't shown any adverse behavior, but until I have a wider testing audience, it's best to err on the side of caution.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
