About this mod Machine translation

Why

One of the biggest problems with Fallout 4 is how far apart there is between the settlement system and the rest of the game. Settlements lack the exploration and progression feel of Bethesda's games, so there's not much incentive to actually use the system.

You have to micromanage all these people, personally planting the seeds and deciding where people sleep - you are their leader, not their mother! You provide these people with security and tons of resources, why can't they help them build cities?

how

In version 1.0, this mod adds the beginnings of that vision by allowing you to place areas (ala Sim City), which will allow your settlers to create buildings of the appropriate type in the area. It includes a series of systems to aid the life of your settlements and make them more dynamic and fun to engage with.

Randomization:

Buildings are randomly selected and randomly populated based on how you divide the area. Using the basic types of Agricultural (Farm), Commercial (Shop), Industrial (Factory) and Residential (Home) - you can use the workshop system to create a basic outline for your settlement and the settlers will handle the rest. Version 1.0 includes tons of buildings and even more!

upgrade:

Each building has multiple levels of upgrades that can be unlocked over time, allowing you to come back and re-explore your settlement and find out what has changed.

Dynamic requirements [optional]:

To help make settlements more fun, settlers' basic needs change over time, making them happier and less predictable, and upgrade unlocks feel like they're earned.

Living city:

All settlers won't share the same boring life story, some of them will be tagged with interesting backgrounds, likes, hobbies and quirks that play out in their homes as visual stories that make them stand out and feel like a unique and important person.

The clutter throughout the home and some of the shops are chosen randomly at creation time and periodically as you visit to really make them feel lived in.

Furniture markers have been placed on furniture and buildings so that your settlers can spend less time gathering together waiting for something and instead communicating with your settlement.

award:

To make the system even more worthy of the visual rewards beyond those mentioned above, we've built a tax system to ensure reconciliation can have a huge impact on your gameplay.

In future patches, tons of unlocks will be added in the form of special buildings and settler inventions that you can use as you conquer the wasteland!

Add your own stuff:

The entire system is open-ended, with scripts and tutorials, allowing absolutely anyone to add their own buildings, clutter, and stories to extend the system from their own mods. Check out Builder’s Toolkit page!

Bonus: HUD piece

If you have the HUDFramework mod installed, you will have access to the Workshop HUD specifically designed to clearly display objectives when playing Sim Settlements as you enter settlements.

Bonus: Customizable Studio Menu

If you install the Settlement Menu Manager, you will get a custom Sim Settlements menu that organizes the menu and any supporting sections into a single menu. Settlement Menu Manager prevents custom menus from messing up your studio build menus without having to uninstall Chem.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
