About this mod Machine translation
This mode removes player voices (male and female) from the game, making dialogue in Fallout 4 a more personalized experience. It brings the Fallout 4 experience closer to the usual Bethesda games, especially when combined with one of the recommended mods below. When you talk to any NPC, you won't hear anything from the player character, only responses. There is no delay between clicking the player's response and hearing the response from the NPC.
This mod is based on VladiMatt's mod, which uses thousands of blank audio files to mute the player's sound. However, this increases the length of the loading screen and causes the game to hang when initially loading. These files also take up a lot of space on the hard drive. I use Archive2 to create a reasonably compressed BA2 file and use a dummy ESP file to load the BSA file. I also generated the fuz files for the DLC using the same technique as VladiMatt, which means the mod works with all DLC as of November 2016.
For the absolute best experience, installing some of the following mods is almost mandatory:
Complete dialogue interface between Cirosan and shadwar (recommended)
Shadwar's NewDialog
KhaoMatt’s subjective cinematic dialogue camera (recommended)
There are two ways to install this mod:
Install using the Mod Manager and make sure ESP is activated in your load order. Load as late as possible to ensure speech is muted.
Place both files into the Data folder and activate ESP using Bethesda.net's load order tool. Load as late as possible to ensure speech is muted.
Load this mod as late as possible to ensure that speech files are replaced with silent files. Version 1.5 of the mod is now fully compatible with vanilla intro sequences!
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
