About this mod Machine translation
Allows players to hide behind companions using shields or power armor
Pre:MCM:
Players can now hide behind companions who are better suited to draw fire.
Can't you shoot while holding a shield? Ask your partner to stand in front of you:
Instructions for general companions:
Craft the Bond Ring at the Chemistry Station under Utilities.
Equip companions with bonding rings.
Press the TAKE COVER prompt while viewing companions.
Alternatively, assign hotkeys in MCM.
Press the hot key to close the lid.
Power Armor Companion Description:
Craft miscellaneous mods for the Power Armor Torso at the Power Armor Station.
Equip your companion with said torso.
Same as above.
The speed and animation are a bit slower:
NPC speed varies based on weapon type, whether walking, crouching, etc.
Adjust the MCM slider to reduce the speed of NPCs to the appropriate play style.
I recommend setting the Power Armor Speed Slow to 20.
notes:
The mod works by giving player control to NPCs. NPCs will mirror anything the player does.
The speed of players and NPCs will vary, I recommend only using the effect when walking or crouching.
NPCs will still attempt to attack when possible. Enemies standing within melee range or within an NPC's cone of fire.
The effect will automatically interrupt when the player is far enough away from the NPC or the NPC is knocked down.
Companions added by the Mod or any NPC that can wear the ring are compatible.
Mods that add power armor work, but can be laggy. Tell the companions to get out and get into the power armor which should repair it.
Companions with special effects can also be laggy when using power armor.
I'm developing an esl version and the mod can be placed anywhere in the load order.
Special instructions:
NPCs can be very unruly, so it is recommended to use hotkeys to move them to the correct location.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
