VAULT-TEC: Visual Interface System
V.I.S.
Head tracking, free camera movement and independent aiming in Fallout 4
This mod was assisted by Codex. If you're reading this, you're smart. Don't tell anyone.
Functions of this module
Vault-Tec: The visual interface system introduces head tracking and independent aiming capabilities to Fallout 4, allowing the perspective and weapon aiming to move independently.
Instead of permanently locking your aim, V.I.S. lets you look around naturally while keeping your weapon pointed.
The goals were simple: more natural camera control, freer movement, and a more immersive way to explore and fight the Commonwealth.
Functional freedom
View mode
Watch freely even without tracking devices or cameras. Enable Freelook in MCM and assign a button to browse freely at any time.
head tracking
Move the in-game camera naturally based on your head movements.
Independent targeting:
Your weapon's aiming direction is no longer permanently tied to the camera.
Free camera movement: You can look around independently without having to constantly change your aiming direction.
Native engine integration
Directly implemented via F4SE, no scripts, ESP files or additional game assets required.
Install
Require
open track
Camera or compatible head tracking hardware
- Download and install OpenTrack.
- Set up OpenTrack and make sure the reset and enable/disable keys are set in the OpenTrack settings.
- Use your preferred mod manager to install the latest version of V.I.S. that matches your Fallout 4 runtime.
- Start OpenTrack before launching Fallout 4.
MCM configuration: You can adjust the head tracking sensitivity directly through MCM.
Be sure to adjust them to suit your setup! If it's too fast for you, go closer to level 0
The horizontal scale controls horizontal head movement.
The vertical scale controls vertical head movement.
Higher values provide greater sensitivity, while lower values (closer to 0) result in more detailed head movements.
Available versions include:
Fallout 4 1.10.163 (original)
Fallout 4 1.11.221 (AE)
Compatibility: V.I.S. runs entirely through F4SE and does not modify logs, scripts, missions, weapons, animations or world content.
uninstall

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
