About this mod Machine translation
describe
This is a mod that combines a number of batch commands that allow you to rename followers. It uses the console command SetActorFullName and a separately made Message (MESG) string (not the default one made by Bethesda). I would turn this into a pure mod if I could, but until the Creation Kit/GECK is released, using a batch file is the easiest solution. At least with my mod it's possible to use names that weren't originally in the game.
The names are provided in separate packages that you can select when doing an NMM installation if you just want to use a few names instead of using a batch file to populate the Data folder. If you feel a name is missing please leave a comment and I will include it in the list.
How to use the mod
Any use of this mod is at your own risk. I take no responsibility if you accidentally rename yourself or a named NPC, or if you fail to rename a settler to the original name. Modification possibilities are currently limited and errors may occur. Knowing that one now knows exactly how the game works in all situations.
- Make sure the mod is installed and esp is active.
- Launch the game, open the console and click on the settler you want to rename. ! Be careful when renaming named NPCs whose names are not settlers, as restoring the original name is really difficult.
See the Known Issues section for details. !
- Write a bat command (see the Bat command section code near the bottom), depending on what you want it to be called.
If you choose to install optional command help bats:
Type bat srHelp in the game to get a list of names and commands available in the game.

Install
Make sure you have completed all necessary configurations to enable mods in Fallout 4.
If you haven't yet, check out this guide to learn how: FALLOUT 4 - PC Modification Enabled by Gopher.
I seriously recommend installing through the Mod Manager. The installation wizard will guide you through the steps and minimize the possibility of future errors. Other mod managers, such as Fallout 4 Mod Manager, are deprecated and may give you a "Bad Structure" - error.
Using Mod Manager (NMM):
- Click "Download with Manager" to download the mod.
- Activate the mod in Mod Manager and follow the installation guide.
Manual installation:
- Manually download the .zip file containing the mod.
- Open the .zip using File Archive.
- Select one of the two .esp files in t …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
