About this mod Machine translation

If anyone has any issues with this mod, especially after updating from an older version. Before trying anything, make sure you have completely uninstalled this mod, then re-download and make sure you install the latest version of each file.

This seems to solve most of the problems people have.

Important note

The Scouter has optional upgrades for the targeting HUD, as seen on the Power Armor Helmet.

I highly recommend getting the customizable target HUD through C4PON3.

This will allow you to customize how the target HUD effect works, allowing you to display

Different colors for hostile enemies and friendly entities. My mod uses vanilla records that his mod changed, so

His mod will work with me.

Thanks to guffeh for working on how to make detect life work independently in friendly games.

Also check out his mod - Targeting HUD Eyewear

Another little gem I found for this mod is the Outfit Switcher.

This little beauty lets you save outfits and quickly switch between them via your favorite shortcuts.

Great for this situation as you can save your gear with and without the scouter to enable it quickly so you don't run into night vision or anything at any time. Very useful. Trying to contact the author to see if we can figure out how to make this mod's HUD options switch on their own (as far as I know it requires scripting, which I can't do right now).

Another important note. If you upgraded from an older version, you may need to unequip and reequip the scouter for some changes to take effect. So far I think it's just the focus enhancer that needs this since it uses a vanilla script and requires updating the armor that changes the script, just to be on the safe side just do this when updating to make sure all changes take effect.

What does it do?

This mod adds a new glasses option, Scouter, to the male and female wastelands.

Available in multiple color combinations and optional HUD modifications, including:

*Night vision

*For HUD

*Tracking module (Recon Scope effect)

*Focus Booster (slow down time when aiming)

*Added Scouter for Dogmeat

*Updated AWKCR patch to allow crafting Dog Meat Mincer at workbench (same category)

*Added optional naming patch, more information further down the page.

*Clean files, remove unused entries (except the 2 I'm still working on)

*Change world model to use ModCrate.nif instead, don't break immersion.

Scouter also adds +2 to Perception.

All color and HUD options are upgradeable options on the armor bench, meaning you can choose one or two options, or have all three options at the same time.

Install?

There are two files, the Main file contains the main mod, which is needed anyway.

Just install via NMM or manually.

AWKCR PATCH?

This mod also has an AWKCR patch that allows you to craft a Scouter on the armorsmith workbench under the CYBERTECH category.

To install it, just install the MAIN file first and then the AWKCR patch from the optional file.

Obviously, AWKCR must also be installed for this option to take effect.

There is no record of overwriting, so load order doesn't matter, but to be safe, put the AWKCR patch after the main file in the load order.

How to get it?

The only way to obtain Scouter is through console commands or the AWKCR armorsmith workbench (if patched).

For console spawning, type "help scouter 4 armo" to display the ID, then type "player.additem xxxxxxxx" where xxxxxx is the ID.

The ID should be xx4a000800, depending on your load order.

If crafted via the armorsmith workbench, the AWKCR mod and my mods optional patch will be required.

Simply create an armorsmith workbench in your settlement (during crafting). Scouter will appear under the CYBERTECH submenu.

Scouter will always be made the same way. Upgrades can be made via the vanilla armor workbench.

Upgrades include:

Lens color (green, pink, blue, red)

Frame color (white or black)

HUD options (night vision, target HUD, tracking module).

HUD opt …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
