scan rabbit
When building a settlement, a major problem is determining which are the paths that NPCs are most likely to follow (preferred paths), which are the entrances used by caravans and traders, or which are out of reach for them. How to use?
From your Pip-Boy's holotape, you can spawn rabbits to do the job for you. They will wander around and drop visible spots on the floor for the time you tell them. They will then disappear peacefully and you can check the area for these spots. These points can only be found in navmesh areas as they move like any other NPC. Don't worry: you can remove the spots later.
This is not limited to settlements: you can check any area.
Consider that the area scanned strongly depends on the rabbit's original egg-laying location. To complete a complete scan of a settlement, it may be necessary to repeat the process starting at a different location.
I am concerned about the safety of my perimeter. This mod allows to increase the defensive capabilities of a settlement by placing walls around it. So the question is, wouldn't I use these walls to stop the natural movement of NPCs? Thanks to ScanRabbit I can at least know which paths I shouldn't block.
Where is the hologram?
In the cellar of Asylum Villa.
Prerequisites
Since the rabbits are from the island, you need to have DLCCOAST.esm (Far Harbor).
A request for you: Tell us about your experiences with rabbits in the comments of this mod! Any ideas to improve this are welcome.
Install/Uninstall
This is an ESP file with the ESL flag so it doesn't take up precious slots in the load order.
It can be installed at any time.
Uninstall: There should be no problem canceling this file. To be completely sure, save your game before and check if it does. Maybe, just maybe, it's better to clean out any spots and then put the holotape in and out of the inner cell's inventory (be very careful).
Instructions for use (copy of the holotape itself)
IMPORTANT: You cannot continue scanning until any previous spots have been cleaned.
Scanner type:
- Normal rabbits will move on any type of navmesh.
- Preferred Rabbits will look for their preferred path in the navmesh if available, otherwise they will move in the normal navmesh.
Default: normal
They are not aggressive and are not cowards.
Scanner:
Just the number of rabbits to spawn.
Default value: 1
Interval:
Scan, in seconds, how often the rabbit drops markers on the floor.
Default value: 1
Scan time:
Approximate total scan time. The longer the time, the greater the total number of spots. The scanner will disappear after this time. There is no need to kill them one by one.
Default: 120
Scan current location:
Scan Rabbits will spawn around you and start moving around until the scan time is up. A notification will appear in the upper left corner of the screen.
To clean spots:
Clean up any mess left by the rabbit. For a large number of attractions, it may take a while.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
