ROBOT HOME DEFENSE
You spend a lot of time wandering around other people's houses and getting shot by robots. Why not copy them? Robot Home Defense adds a range of robots that you can add to protect your settlement, from a variety of enemies like Raiders and Mirelurks to Diseases and Lucids.
With Robotics Expert, Fusion Core and a little elbow grease you can build:
Protectrons, Muts Gutsies, Assaultrons and Sentry Bots come to defend your settlement!
Emergency Service Protectrons and Mister Handies/Miss Nannies provide lower defense but increase settlement happiness!
A useful news tool that clears parts like a cleaning station!
Once you've completed your drinking buddy quest, Protectron Brewers can provide food and water to your settlement!
After certain story missions, first and second generation synthetic settlers can be established!
Once you've set up a droid defense system, you can have them escort you as you defend the Commonwealth:
They will fast travel with you
They take orders and share inventory
They return home when they are fired
You can have any number at the same time
You can control the ranged weapons they will use
You can also build a wrench upgrade that lets you repair and repair robots in the field. Plus, give your Protectrons a pleasant sleep.
As you increase your crafting perks, the bots also increase in power:
blacksmith increases hp
Armorer adds DR&E
Gun Nuts increased physical damage
science! Increased energy damage
compatibility
RHD is not compatible with any other mods that add new categories to the Defense list in Workbench (i.e. mods other than Guard Posts, Turrets, and Traps). It is not compatible with other mods for editing Robotics Expert - you will not get the "Terminal" functionality.
It's compatible with Homemaker, SSEx and Robot Guardians - no conflicting changes.
It is compatible with settlement keywords via patch.
If you find a mod that's incompatible with it and make a patch, I'll add it to the download page. I don't make compatibility patches for mods I don't use.
If you encounter the error that the bot is not appearing in Workshop, you may have reached the build category limit. Try disabling another mod that edits categories or changes its load order. If you want to release certain class restrictions* without losing your bot, enable the Build Blocker optional.esp.

frequently asked questions
"Just a heads up, it spells 'Defense'"
Does robot defense count towards the settled population cap?
No, crazy! Currently, synths* who act as settlers count. I'm trying to find a solution.
Is this RobCo certification?
No, that didn't come out until GECK.
are you sure?
No:S.
I don't have a "terminal" option!
About 15 lines more in the compatibility section:

The terminal is not working properly!
Make sure you change the ini (as required by most mods) and install the script. NMM sometimes fails to reinstall.
The bits of my robot are no longer visible/I can't see all the robots in the build menu!
You have reached your keyword limit. The game is capped at 255 keywords, one for each armor slot and workbench category. If there are too many workbench categories, some will be ignored. RHDs don't add any armor slots, but they can replace robot body slots (e.g. hands/torso) if you have too many other pieces of equipment to add them to. There's no fix - you just have too many mods.
Some clothes don't work on Synths!
right. There's no way to prevent them from wearing most clothes and stopping them altogether.
Can you make Mr. Handies …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
