describe
The main purpose of this mod is to add an immersive, fully functional refrigerator. I noticed that those old, clunky vintage refrigerators never really get a good cleaning, so I gave them a makeover in a variety of colors to match your colorful kitchen! I also added a modern pre-war refrigerator in vanilla blue and a neat ice maker. More colors on modern kitchen refrigerators can be found in modular kitchen patches.
Installation instructions
Installation is just like any other mod. You can uninstall it midway through archiving, but you must dismantle the previously assembled refrigerator.
Main functions
A refrigerator can cool anything that can be cooled for 3 hours in-game (an ice maker takes 1 hour and also provides +2 water, but requires more power). They all give your settlement a happiness bonus.
To make them more immersive, they have their own sound environment when powered up (similar to the hum of a refrigerator) to indicate their functionality and give life to the object.
Since containers cannot have looping sound effects attached to them, the only way I could do it was to install a script-based invisible tag that plays the sound effect when the device is powered on. ~~However, the markings can be a little weird and don't always stay attached to the object when moved, so if you find that the sound is out of place or coming from a place where the refrigerator is not built, just dismantle/store the refrigerator and reassemble it. This should update the sound marker's position. ~~
After version 3 fixes, you can find them in Furniture > Other categories.
The Modular Kitchen Patch will convert the refrigerator along with the refrigerator in my mod, so you can find them in their respective menus.
There is no requirement for the main file. The modular kitchen patch obviously requires the modular kitchen to be installed and activated.
Update log
V3
The refrigerator hum system has been redone, fixing several sound-related issues. Buzz emitters are now permanently connected to the refrigerator and will correctly follow when moved in workshop mode. After the refrigerator is disassembled, stored, deactivated, or deleted, the noise emitters will no longer exist as they are bound to the refrigerator via keywords.

V2
Added mini-fridge, fixed recipe issue with MKpatch conflicts in modern refrigerators.
Special thanks to NotSure700 for the refrigerator module. Thanks to that mod, I learned how the cooling system works, which helped me a lot when writing the mod script. The pre-war refrigerator models are also fun to play around with and play with the various parts before starting to make your own model. This is a mod that has been on my mod list for years and eventually helped me shape my own.
I'd also like to thank damanding for making the modular kitchen mod, and CrayonKit for saving and maintaining this amazing mod, which I also use to help me find the right color for my refrigerator. My mods are perfect for modular kitchens and are essential for the full experience :) Modular kitchen mods are hosted on Bethesda.net :)
Credits also go to Outfit studio which I used to shape the refrigerator .nifs, and GIMP for texturing.
~That’s all! Have fun :-) If you like my moderator :)
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
