About this mod Machine translation
Please download GOTA115's LEGENDARY PATCHES to use the official DLC! Additionally, if you find a place to equip power armor, you're least likely to have it because you installed it after starting a new game. SHOULD ALSO: Scroll down to see why PA "can't" be fixed! I don't know why this happens; not sure if I can fix it.
Update 6/9/17: Life happened and then I forgot existed. So, this is me and I apologize. Thanks to everyone who helped with the bug, especially Gota115, who basically supported the mod while I, uh, did nothing. Feel sorry. To be honest, I was planning on doing a clean install of Fallout 4 to see what kind of mods are out there, but obviously this needs to be addressed first. Assuming I remember how to use GECK, that's...
Power Armor should feel like S.P.E.C.I.A.L. It should be the culmination of all your hard work and death-defying antics. The ultimate armor that turns you into a literal walking tank. It should feel, strong, powerful. All of this is hard to achieve when you're basically tripping over a full set of X-01 that's just standing there. outdoors. Like someone parked it there and forgot to come back. Because no one is going to notice one of the most advanced pieces of technology being produced at the bottom of a shallow pool, right?
Yes, no.
Some Required Gear is a mod dedicated to a single goal: to recreate and maintain that sense of wonder, power, and accomplishment in using and discovering Power Armor. How's that, you ask? Well, it's not as complicated as you think. Well, maybe yes. perhaps.
What this mod does:
Manually disable nearly all Power Armor spawn locations from the base game and replace them with boss trunks, chemical weapons, weapons, ammo, and explosives. Basically, wherever you've ever found a set of Power Armor, you've found a supply cache.
Changed the main mission "Outside of Time" slightly so that the power armor on top of the museum only has the torso section and 10% health.
There are Raiders, T-45s and T-51s scattered throughout the Commonwealth. Interior design, exterior, underwater, you name it! Encourage better looting and observation! Many areas that spawn full frames now have one or two powered armors. Military bases, bunkers and facilities that have been relatively untouched since World War I are a good place to start looking, as well as important faction/populated locations.
In a very strange place, just place one (1) set of X-01 pieces in the Commonwealth! For example, the torso is in the Museum of Witchcraft and Wizardry, while the helmet is Prydwen behind the armorer! Click here to see the full list if you want to "spoil" the fun!
Set the few Power Armor spawns to either Raider or T-45 (depending on the enemy using it) and make sure they don't respawn when the cells reset. So, you'll still be playing as a boss enemy in Power Armor. Enemies that the boss spawns in Power Armor are unchanged from the enemies that entered at the start of the battle, and will respawn on cell reset!
This makes the only way to obtain a T-60 is to join the Brotherhood of Steel.
Changed vendor list so that X-01/T-60 pieces will not show unless appropriate (BOS T-60)
Changed Cambridge Polymer Lab's Quest reward to produce T-45/T-51 variants (depending on player level; tried to force it to be T-51)
Swap Danse's Post Blind Betrayal Power Armor for a non-BOS T-60.
Swapping all Atom Cats T-60 instances for the T-45 now works with the paint. [Needs consistent power armor overhaul and optional patches; thanks Bordraw! ]
Rebalancing the materials used to repair power armor is more comprehensive and difficult, depending on the setting and available knowledge about the building. Example: Helmets and torso components are more difficult to repair than limb components due to their structural complexity and the resources required.
Increases the durability of power armor (except Raider) by 100-200% (or more!) depending on equipment and piece count to make it more in line with new repair requireme …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
