About this mod Machine translation

describe:

This mod aims to provide realistic dark nights, but still light enough HD visuals with a moody atmosphere, whilst enhanced by fadingsignals' amazing 'Real Storm' mod. By high definition I mean I have removed most of the unnatural "fog" FO4 to provide HD clear images and replaced it with weather appropriate True Storms awesome and realistic volumetric fog. I also maintained high quality cloud visuals for the stormy weather. And the color palette for each weather type is carefully designed to reflect the temperature, atmosphere and array of light. It's still very playable on an FPS, with slightly different gaming rigs and monitors - if you're already running True Storms, you'll have no trouble.

The main focus of True Nights (and how it differs from Unforbidables' popular 'Darker Nights' mode) is that True Nights maintains HD visuals by removing static fog layers. True Nights is designed to make real-life distances darker, while getting closer to you there is still some usable light. There is much more light shown in the screenshot. It is the illusion that distant objects, such as the horizon, etc., are occluded - it creates a deeper "sense of darkness" while there is available light near the ground to move around. The feeling of not being able to tell where the earth ends and the sky begins can have a profound impact on your experience, and True Nights uses it wherever possible when the time is right! This depth creates a cinematic visual effect with deep shadows and dark alleys, more akin to horror movies and games like Silent Hill, where enemies lurk in the darkness waiting to jump out at you!

I crafted each weather pattern to make them all unique. I emphasize a cinematic, often moody, sometimes claustrophobic atmosphere. For each weather type, I think of moonlight vs. ambient light, the temperature/hue of light in the atmosphere, and various forms of occlusion appropriate to the weather and temperature: cooling fog on a cold cloudless night, rising fog on a warm cloudy/rainy night, oppressive thunderstorms, muggy/gray atmosphere, overcast, foggy, clear skies and claustrophobic thick fog that eats you up! It's often very subtle and sometimes strikingly different, but I've always kept the beautiful clouds and unique lighting and I hope I don't overcook it.

Night darkness varies greatly depending on the weather. While a clear sky at night provides very good visibility; in bad weather it gets very dark and the inky atmosphere obscures your vision. It's convenient to have some form of light to help you through the worst weather, just like it should. It's also fun!

To help combat the night, have your lighting options ready: Pip-Boy Flashlight - Tactical Flashlight - Flare Gun - Night Vision Goggles - R91 Assault Rifle with Tactical Flare - Tactical Weapon Light or Night Vision Perk for those sub-human mutants! But if you encounter a dust storm at night, give up all hope, thankfully they are very rare.

Someone who knows what I mean when I say you need to hire; shape, shine, shade, contour and movement...should be home here. I try to balance direct light with ambient and occlusion effects, keeping those effects in mind.

Don't forget, this mod is designed for use with ENB, which allows you to adjust night, day, dawn and dusk brightness on the fly while in-game for your personal satisfaction. For instructions, read "Too Dark?" below.

Finally, the daytime experience of fadingsignals 'True Storms'

Very nice sunrise and sunset not affected. I only changed the pattern at night and after sunset and after sunset to ensure the mixture was seamless and natural.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
