About this mod Machine translation
Overview
This model enables true 3D sound for Fallout 4 by using so-called HRTFs to simulate binaural hearing using regular stereo headphones. You'll hear exactly which direction the sound is coming from.
By simulating the way the brain perceives real physical sounds through HRTF, this module will give you an advantage over regular surround sound headphones. What normal surround sound like 7.1 can't do is sound coming from above or below.
Install
Don't use any mod manager to install it! Copy the files manually.
Extract the files to the Fallout 4 installation directory
Launch the game and enjoy!
It is recommended to disable your headphones or any other surround sound capabilities of your sound card.
If you use headphones you will get the effect you want!
If you have surround sound headphones (5.1/7.1), make sure to disable any surround sound processing.
Two channels (stereo) are enough for this module to work.
Any further surround processing will distort the effect.
You must ensure that Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 (x64 version) is installed.
uninstall
Delete the files from the Fallout 4 installation directory.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
